Il y avait encore les décos de Noël il y a quelques jours!

The Christmas decorations were still up in the streets of Saint-Louis neighbourhood a couple of days ago!

Why? Christmas was officially over on Jan. 6!

I had a friend who would often forget to take down the Xmas lights on his house. Finally, one July, I nagged him so much, he got on a ladder and removed them.

But the next year he forgot again.

I gave up!

It's probably been too cold to take them down. Plus they add a nice touch to the cold, bleak January nights.

Comme elles sont jolies ces decorations de Noel autant en profiter encore un peu. Plus que quelques jours sans doute....

That's OK. My neighbor used to leave his Christmas lights up on his house all year around ... in fact for several years. Never took them down. Until last summer when he had to in order to replace his roof. Guess what ... he didn't put them back up this year.

I like the design against the blue. Very nice.

They didn't forget to take them down - they are just up very early for next Christmas...

Maybe it's been too rainy or cold to take them down. OR maybe they leave them up all year and don't have to be bothered with it next year!

I know a guy who has adopted the concept of permanent decorations. He does turn the electricity off at the end of winter but they still hang there. Saves a lot of work next year.

i love the blue take in the first shot.

Re: the Snow Geese. You get quite close to them, they just very slowly inch away and if they fly up they soon settle back down or just fly right over you. One good thing is that these geese do not drop (you know what) as they fly---so you are safe. I really enjoy seeing them and photographing them. MB

Most of them are still around here either... We hope they'll be gone for Easter.

We take our tree down today. I'll be sad to see it go. It smells so good and each night, at dinner, we've continued to light it. Today we'll move the furniture back where it belongs, restore the rug, and wait for spring ( : That first image, looking up through the decorations, is intriguing. The string of lights looks almost like barbed-wire, giving the image an entirely different feel. But then, referencing the second image, the viewer is assured the string is just an innocent run of un-lit bulbs.

I agree with the Brattcat comment.
When I take out my tree, something sad happened inside my heart.

I think there should be decorations of different kinds all year. When do I get to hear about your journey?

Christmas decorations, so festive in December, look sad in January.

People here also seem to be leaving their decorations up - I was noticing the lights while driving home tonight. I wonder why?
