Jordi Savall à l'opéra royal
Jordi Savall, one of my heroes, conducted the Concert des Nations orchestra in a fabulous rendering of Jean-Philippe Rameau's Naïs (1748), Les Indes Galantes (1735), Zoroastre (1749) and Les Boréades (1764) orchestra suites composed for king Louis XV. Bravo, bravissimo.

L'opéra royal
Mid-January, I had the immense pleasure of going to the Royal Opera inside the Palace. It was planned as early as 1682 but due to lack of funds was only constructed by Jacques-Ange Gabriel towards the end of the reign of Louis XV. It was inaugurated on 16 May 1770, the day of the Dauphin's marriage to Marie-Antoinette. It is entirely made of wood and reopened in late 2009 after extensive restoration.----------------------------------------
Mi-janvier j'ai eu l'immense plaisir de me rendre à l'Opéra Royal, au château. Planifié dès 1682, il ne fut finalement construit par Jacques-Ange Gabriel qu'à la fin du règne de Louis XV. Il fut inauguré le 16 mai 1770, jour du mariage du Dauphin avec Marie-Antoinette. Il est entièrement en bois et a réouvert fin 2009 après de gros travaux de restauration.
