So... this was Avenue de Paris on Saturday seen from the bus in Porchefontaine neighbourhood... The wind got the better of the garbage can... The second picture is taken towards the convent of the serving sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which VDP had shown you in the snow here.

Hmmmm. That's all VDP can say!!! Cupcakes, cookie cups, brookies and cookies galore, homemade in Versailles by Solène and sold online here, freshly baked to order, pick them up at her home! Alternatively, grab some at Porchefontaine open air market on Saturday mornings! It is with these treats that VDP is saying goodbye, so long, see you in... a while! It's VDP's annual long break! So sorry if, before departure, VDP doesn't have time to visit your blogs.

Hmmmm. C'est tout ce que VDP trouve à dire ! Des cupcakes et des cookies comme s'il en pleuvait, faits maison par Solène ! Vous les commandez en cliquant ici et ensuite vous passez les prendre chez elle. Ou bien vous allez au marché de Porchefontaine le samedi matin, ce qu'a fait VDP. Ne tardez toutefois pas trop, ils s'envolent à la vitesse de la lumière dans les cabas (ou les bouches) des gourmands ! Pour rester connectés, la page Facebook des Goodies c'est par là ! C'est avec ces petits délices colorés et fondants à souhait que VDP vous dit au revoir et à bientôt, puisqu'elle prend ses longs congés d'été un peu en décalé, maintenant que vous êtes tous rentrés...

Paella !

Perhaps you aren't into yesterday's spicy French Caribbean food and would prefer some Spanish paella? It was piping hot at Porchefontaine neighbourhood's Saturday morning market! Incidentally, the market is held just next to Square Lamôme which VDP had shown you here. It was brand new at the time, and VDP will have to return to show you how, after four years, the benches have changed!

Si vous n'aimez pas la cuisine antillaise d'hier, vous avez l'option paella au marché de Porchefontaine ! Le marché se tient juste à côté du square Lamôme que VDP vous montrait ici. En quatre ans, les bancs ont joliment vieilli, il faudra que VDP y retourne pour reprendre des photos et vous montrer l'évolution !

Déjeuner antillais

You always get a warm welcome at Banan'îles (Banana Isles) and some pretty good French Caribbean food (and ti'punch) too! These pics were taken at the Saturday morning outdoor market in Porchefontaine neighbourhood though Banan'îles can also be found at Notre-Dame market! VDP's lunch was delicious: accras de morue (little cod beignets or fritters), spicy Caribbean style cassoulet and scrumptious no less spicy green mango salad!

On est toujours accueilli avec le sourire chez Banan'îles et c'est bon ! VDP a dégusté avec délice des accras de morue, du cassoulet antillais et de la salade de mangue verte bien épicée ! Ces photos ont été prises au marché du samedi matin à Porchefontaine mais Banan'îles se trouve également au marché Notre-Dame !

Weekend Reflections: le lac de Porchefontaine

 This place reminds VDP of Québec where she had taken this photo. Now of course, this isn't a wild place, no bears or moose around. It's a small pond next to Porchefontaine stadium and VDP liked the scene! More Weekend Reflections are this way!

Cet endroit rappelle le Québec à VDP où elle avait pris cette photo. Bien sûr, ce n'est pas ici une étendue sauvage comme là-bas où les ours et les élans ne sont jamais bien loin puisqu'il s'agit juste de l'étang à côté du stade de Porchefontaine ! Les Reflets du Weekend sont par ici !

Qui veut des abricots ?

Imagine VDP's surprise when, on her way back to the car from Porchefontaine stadium, she saw... apricots! The thing is, the garden they are in is very overgrown which makes them hard to access even for the owners! What a shame!

Imaginez la surprise de VDP quand, en retournant à sa voiture en rentrant du stade de Porchefontaine, elle vit... un abricotier ! Il se trouve dans un jardinet et a semblé inaccessible à VDP, y compris pour les habitants de la maison. Quel dommage !

Henry Chavancy et Isabelle Ithurburu au tournoi 7 de cœur

The 7 of heart rugby tournament was held under the patronage of Henry Chavancy, French rugby XV player and Isabelle Ithurburu, TV sports presenter. The photos aren't too good because VDP was far away (and argghhh can't run!!!)

Les parrain et marraine du tournoi 7 de cœur étaient Henry Chavancy du Racing Métro 92 et Isabelle Ithurburu. Les photos ne sont pas très bonnes parce que VDP était loin (et arghhh ne peut pas courir !!!)

So yesterday was the big stroll and VDP didn't go (though it has to be said that the parade seems to have been wonderful if VDP is to believe the photos seen on Facebook!) Instead, VDP took herself off to Porchefontaine stadium. Now you probably don't know that VDP abhors football (a.k.a. soccer) but has been a rugby union fan since the 1970s (and that dates her a bit!) You can imagine how happy she was here, watching the "7 of heart" tournament which is organised for charitable purposes, raising money for excellent causes such as researching Kabuki syndrome, helping children with AIDS, rugby for autist and mentally and physically handicapped children, clowns to brighten up children's hospital wards... Now this wasn't the famous Hong Kong Sevens tournament but there were tries and action! VDP loves rugby sevens and enjoyed trying her hand at sports photography ! You can find more information on this noble cause here (in English!)

Hier c'était donc la grande déambulation et VDP n'y est pas allée (mais a vu les photos de la parade sur Facebook, ça avait l'air top !) VDP s'est, en revanche, rendue au stade de Porchefontaine. Vous ne savez sans doute pas que VDP abhorre le football mais est une fan de rugby depuis les années 1970 (et ça ne la rajeunit pas...) Vous imaginerez donc sans difficulté qu'elle fut très heureuse de pouvoir assister à quelques matches du "tournoi 7 de cœur", le rugby caritatif ! Le tournoi est organisé pour recueillir des sous pour plein de bonnes causes, telles que la lutte contre le syndrome Kabuki, l'association Sol en Si, le rugby pour les enfants autistes, handicapés mentaux ou moteurs, les clowns pour les hôpitaux etc. Alors certes, ce n'était pas le tournoi des Hong Kong Sevens, mais VDP adore le rugby à 7 et a passé un excellent moment à tenter de prendre des photos !
