This is inside the largest hall of Cyrano cinema and it was almost full for "the Revenant" two days after its release in France... Note the smartphones, some people (including the geezer sitting next to VDP) actually used their mobile phones during the film...

La plus grande salle du Cyrano était plutôt pleine vendredi soir pour "the Revenant" deux jours après sa sortie. Notez les smartphones, le voisin de VDP a même consulté le sien pendant le film...

There are two places that VDP knows of where you can find crabapples in Versailles: here, cultivated espalier in the courtyard of the newly restored former royal hospital Richaud, and in the Scents Courtyard gardens... VDP loves crabapples! These photos were taken at the beginning of the month.

A la connaissance de VDP, il y a deux endroits à Versailles où l'on trouve ces mini-pommes d'ornement, les malus : ici dans le jardin de l'ancien hôpital royal Richaud, et dans l'ancien jardin des récollets, celui de la cour des senteurs. VDP les adore ! Photos prises au début du mois.

VDP's followers are familiar with this view. You have seen it here in the winter and here in the summer. Autumn was missing, so here it is!

We are having such a pretty autumn, despite the often grey skies, that VDP has gone a bit wild and is going to show you lots of seasonal photos! These were taken last weekend in the park of the Spiritual Centre of the Sisters of the Cenacle, which you had seen here in the summer.

"Sky Mirror" zoomé

This is a close-up of yesterday's "Sky Mirror", showing distorted tourists, Latona fountain and the Grand Canal (behind 'Dirty Corner') in the palace gardens. Yes, VDP is amongst those people... Not that VDP would tell you!!!

VDP vous le montrait hier. On y distingue des touristes, le bassin de Latone et le Grand Canal (derrière "Dirty Corner"). Et VDP. Mais où ?!

Weekend Reflections: "Sky Mirror"

Another one of Anish Kapoor's exhibits in the palace gardens this summer is 'Sky Mirror', a large satellite dish type mirror in which the palace gardens and Grand Canal are reflected! VDP converted the original photo to monochrome because she liked it but you might prefer the colour one so here it is below! All Weekend Reflections are this way!

Une autre des installations d'Anish Kapoor dans les jardins du château est le "Sky Mirror" ou miroir du ciel, sorte d'antenne parabolique dans laquelle sont reflétés les jardins et le Grand Canal. VDP a converti la photo d'origine en noir et blanc parce qu'elle lui plaisait bien, mais vous préférerez peut-être la couleur, alors la voici ci-dessous ! Tous les Reflets du Weekend sont par ici !

July City Daily Photo Theme Day: Upside down

July and it's sizzling hot in Versailles! A heatwave is upon us (104° F/40°C forecast for today and already 90° in the bedroom last night), as is Theme Day in the City Daily Photo blogging community. These pictures were taken at the palace last Sunday, VDP was literally roasting but hey! Anish Kapoor's summer exhibit in the palace gardens provided the perfect upside down pictures! Juillet et il fait une chaleur à crever à Versailles ! La canicule s'est abattue sur nous, tout comme le thème du premier du mois dans la communauté des blogueurs City Daily Photo. VDP a rôti dimanche dernier au château mais les miroirs de l'expo Anish Kapoor lui ont permis de prendre des photos "à l'envers" et donc "upside down" pour satisfaire au thème ! Notre-Dame covered market and the Saturday market stalls, as well as a cyclist are reflected in an YSL (Yves Saint Laurent) ad. VDP used to love that perfume! All Weekend Reflections are this way!
Early afternoon update: it seems the notoriety of YSL and Opium the perfume hasn't reached everyone. So click on the links if you want to know more about it, yes it is a perfume, has been for almost 40 years and is perfectly legal!
