Ciné de plein air

Last Thursday evening, this year's edition of open air movies in various cities of the whole Yvelines department was launched in the garden of Trianon Palace hotel in Versailles (the 'county town' of the Yvelines). It had poured with rain all morning but the weather forecast wasn't too bad for the evening and there was a huge turnout! Thankfully, VDP's friend had been able to arrive earlier than her to reserve seats in the front row! It actually rained a bit during the movie but not enough to make anyone leave!

Jeudi dernier était lancée l'édition 2015 des "Yvelines font leur cinéma" dans le jardin du Trianon Palace. Le matin, c'était la mousson mais les prévisions météo n'étaient pas trop mauvaises pour la soirée et du coup il n'y avait pas assez de transats pour accommoder la foule s'étant déplacée ! Heureusement, une amie de VDP avait pu arriver suffisamment tôt pour réserver des places au premier rang ! Pendant la séance, il y eut un peu de crachin, mais pas assez pour faire fuir les spectateurs!

Last Saturday, VDP took her parents to La Véranda restaurant at Trianon Palace hotel right next to the palace grounds for a bit of sheer luxury at lunchtime... The chef at the hotel is celeb' Gordon Ramsay and this place is the offspring of the main restaurant.

Samedi dernier, VDP a emmené ses parents à la Véranda de Gordon Ramsay au Trianon Palace, en bordure du parc du château, pour un peu de luxe à l'heure du déjeuner...

Un "afternoon tea" de luxe

Trust me, that thing was good. VDP is drooling at the mere thought of it! This was afternoon tea at Trianon Palace hotel which you had seen here. Actually, it was tea for the friend who accompanied VDP (and allowed her to taste it) and tapas for yours truly who at the time just had to have some foie gras with figs... 

Croyez-moi, ce sablé était une tuerie. Si la personne qui accompagnait VDP a opté pour un thé gourmand tout sucré, VDP avait envie de salé et a opté pour le foie gras... Ce fut une halte luxueuse et fort agréable au Trianon Palace !

Lustre au Trianon Palace... mais aussi : and ze winner is... ta da... suspense...

This is one of the chandeliers at Trianon Palace hotel. I think it's gorgeous in a modern-classical way! So... now that the daily fix of Versailles is done, let's get down to some serious stuff!

Food for Thoughts: "tea for two and two for tea..."

Recently I took my Mum to have tea/champagne at the Trianon Palace hotel for her birthday. Rob and Mandy's Food for Thoughts meme came to mind! It doesn't look like much but I can assure you it was delicious. Nuts, Japanese crackers and pistachio macarons.

Récemment, j'ai emmené ma maman prendre le thé/champagne au Trianon Palace pour son anniversaire. J'ai tout de suite pensé à Food for Thoughts de Rob et Mandy à Barcelone parce que ça n'avait l'air de rien ces noix, ces "trucs japonais" et ces macarons à la pistache mais que c'était bon !

On Saturday I went to the Christmas market at the Trianon Palace hotel. There's an ice-rink and Father Christmas for the kids and very upscale little chalets selling Champagne and Guerlain perfume. Better than nothing but still a long shot from real Christmas markets.

Samedi je me suis rendue au marché de Noël de l'hôtel Trianon Palace. Il y a une patinoire et le Père Noël, ainsi que des chalets très classe qui vendent du Champagne et des produits Guerlain. Bon, c'est mieux que rien du tout mais on est bien loin des vrais marchés de Noël...

Yesterday I was telling you about Gordon Ramsay's restaurant at the Trianon Palace. This is the other side of the hotel as seen from the palace grounds. Now an alternative to the 150€ menu could be a meal at the blue terrace. The menu is delightful and it should cost you an average of 40-50€ (again, excl. wine) which is perfectly reasonable given that it is the cuisine of a celebrity chef... and very good I'm told.

Hier je vous entretenais du restaurant de Gordon Ramsay au Trianon Palace. Voici l'hôtel vu de l'autre côté, donc du parc du château. Une alternative au menu à 150€ pourrait être un repas à la terrasse bleue. Le menu est appétissant au possible et ne vous coûtera en moyenne que 40-50€ (hors vin). Voilà qui me semble tout à fait raisonnable pour un grand nom !

The Waldorf Astoria Collection hotel Trianon Palace is located on the edge of the palace grounds. Celeb Scotsman Gordon Ramsay is its head chef and I must say the "a taste of" menu looks simply mouthwatering but you will have to pay 150 € (excl. wine) to enjoy it. Check out the website here for pure luxury! P.S.: no I don't wear a scarf like HM Elisabeth does.

L'hôtel Trianon Palace se trouve en lisière du parc du château. Le chef écossais Gordon Ramsay y propose un menu dégustation à 150 € (vin exclu) qui met l'eau à la bouche. Pour un peu de luxe pur, c'est par ici ! P.S. : non je ne porte pas un foulard comme la reine Elisabeth.
