Pie

Magpie Versailles pie
VDP remembers magpies from her childhood but it seems we have more and more of them, far more than when she was a kid!

Pigeons Versailles
VDP will never understand how anyone would want to feed them. There are soooo many of them and therefore they... ummm... you know... everywhere... and I mean everywhere: on the pavement, on statues (oh the acid deterioration), on rooftops, on flowers, on branches and leaves of trees, on benches, on the heads and shoulders of passers-by, on windshields and bodyworks of cars, on balconies, on your little windowsill herbal garden and your geraniums (or any other flowers you might attempt to grow), on your umbrella, on every available nook and cranny... You name, it, they'll do it. VDP even once saw a tourist's camera held up and bam, right onto the lens! Oh, yes, it's illegal to feed them.

The dragon and the seagull. This is the dragon basin at the edge of the palace gardens, which we owe to the Marsy brothers. It depicts one of the episodes of the legend of Apollo: the Python snake killed by an arrow shot by the young Apollo. The reptile is surrounded by dolphins and Cupids armed with bows and arrows riding on swans.

The crow at the palace. I'm taking a short break, posts are scheduled though. Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it and see you soon!

I bet you've had enough of the Grand Trianon now! After our stroll around the gardens we went to Angelina (a famous parisian tea shop that has an outlet at Petit Trianon). The chestnut éclair was a delight and someone was hoping for a crumb! There is a chandelier on Artsy Versailles today.

I think it liked being photographed! Seen outside a shop in Montreuil neighbourhood.

On the icy Swiss lake, the swans were in love as befits Valentine's day! More about of the lake? See the label below.

Mer belle

The sea was choppy yesterday in the palace grounds...
