Wrapping up the series about the comics exhibition at the town hall, here's the man himself, Hermann, autographing and drawing for the happy few who had been selected in a draw to attend the signing. Now this included VDP, who waited patiently to have a comics book autographed for Bergson of Châteaubriant Daily Photo!

So, after yesterday's introduction, here are some of Hermann's original works that are on show at the town hall until 22 February! Above, a detail of Bois-Maury, Rodrigo, 2001. Those of you who, like VDP, know Córdoba in Andalucía will, of course have recognised the amazing arches of the Mosque-Cathedral, the Mezquita de Córdoba.

Expo BD : Hermann à Versailles

Last weekend, VDP took her Dad, who is a great amateur of historical comics, to this year's comics exhibition at the town hall. It is devoted to Hermann, one of the greatest! VDP will show you some of his works tomorrow so that you can be judges of how fantastic an artist he is!

Le weekend dernier, VDP a emmené son père, grand amateur de BD historiques, à l'expo BD 2015 à l'hôtel de ville. Elle est dévouée à Hermann, l'un des maîtres du genre ! Demain, VDP vous montrera certaines de ces œuvres.

Astérix chez les pictes

I have been a lifelong fan of Astérix so this display at the supermarket yesterday made me smile! The latest Astérix comic was released this week. You had seen another shot of this escalator here.

J'ai toujours été une grande fan d'Astérix (enfin, surtout les anciens) et ces personnages hier au Monop m'ont fait sourire ! Astérix chez les pictes, vous l'avez déjà lu ? Vous aviez vu l'escalator du supermarché ici.

Final part of the Jacques Martin comics photo exhibition. This is Louis XIII's hunting castle. You may recognise the place as his son, Louis XIV, insisted on keeping the look of his father's castle when he decided to build the palace.

Continuing the Jacques Martin comics exhibition, here's a general view of Versailles in the days of king Louis XIII, under whose reign Versailles became a favourite royal hunting place. The details will look better if you click on the photo.

This is Versailles in the days before king Henri IV as seen by Olivier Pâques and Jacques Martin. Historical comic authors usually do a lot of research so this might just be what it looked like in the 1500s. But no, these aren't mountains in the background, merely clouds!

BD de cape et d'épée

Swashbuckling comic! There is a new photographic exhibition in Saint-Nicolas street (you've seen it with the previous exhibition here). This time, it honours Jacques Martin, a pioneer of historical comics (or bandes dessinées) who died in 2010. This, and the coming photos, are excerpts of the story of Loïs, published by Casterman editions, a partner of this exhibition. The drawings are by Olivier Pâques.

Il y a une nouvelle expo photos rue Saint-Nicolas (vous aviez vu la précédente ici). Cette fois-ci, en partenariat avec les éditions Casterman, elle met à l'honneur Jacques Martin, pionnier de la BD historique avec ici (et à venir cette semaine) des extraits des aventures de Loïs. Les dessins sont d'Olivier Pâques.
