Au bosquet des dômes

Okay, okay, it's a promise, this is the last of the autumn palace shots for this year. It was actually scheduled to go online on 14 November just after the Paris terror attacks. This is the dome grove which VDP had shown you during the night musical fountains show here (with a bit about its history too).

Ok, ok, promis, c'est la dernière photo de l'automne dans les jardins du château pour cette année. Elle devait initialement paraître sur ce blog le 14 novembre, lendemain des attaques terroristes à Paris. Elle a été prise au bosquet des dômes, que VDP vous montrait ici pendant les Grandes Eaux Nocturnes.

VDP's followers are familiar with this view. You have seen it here in the winter and here in the summer. Autumn was missing, so here it is!

Les habitués de VDP connaissent bien cette vue, déjà montrée ici en hiver et là en été. Il manquait l'automne, c'est chose faite !

So there she is. Latona with water. Those of you who follow VDP on a regular basis will remember the May posts about the end of the long, long restoration of the gorgeous fountain in the palace gardens. They were here, and also here and finally there. As for the lady before restoration, have a peek here, with links to the mythological and allegorical meaning as well as a video. Below, the view she currently enjoys onto Anish Kapoor's 'Dirty Corner'.

La voici en eau. Ceux d'entre vous qui suivent régulièrement VDP se souviendront des billets du mois de mai, de la fin de la restauration de la très belle fontaine des jardins du château. Now of course, you all already knew that yesterday's post wasn't going to be enough for VDP and that there would be some details today of the brand new fountains of the Water Theatre Grove!

Bien évidemment, vous vous doutiez que les photos d'hier seraient insuffisantes pour VDP et qu'il y aurait des détails des fontaines du bosquet du théâtre d'eau aujourd'hui !

Le bosquet du théâtre d'eau

In March 2014, the place looked wild, it was here. These photos were taken at the end of May. They represent a small part of the brand new Water Theatre Grove in the palace gardens. The grove was originally designed by André Le Nôtre and after an international competition aimed at garden designers for the restoration of the Water Theatre grove, landscape designer Louis Benech and artist Jean-Michel Othoniel were chosen for their contemporary art project that reminds of the brilliant feasts that kings held in the gardens. It's modern but still classy and VDP loves it! To see two short videos, click here.

En mars 2014, les lieux étaient en pleins travaux, c'était ici. Ces photos ont été prises fin mai. Elles représentent une petite partie du tout nouveau bosquet du théâtre d'eau dans les jardins du château, dont la restauration a été confiée après concours international au paysagiste Louis Benech et à l'artiste Jean-Michel Othoniel.C'est moderne, contemporain, tout en rappelant les fêtes données jadis dans les jardins, VDP adore ! Le bassin de Latone début mai 2015

What a difference! Latona is back, looking towards the Grand Canal again! These early May photos were taken by VDP's friend Atelier Choco Turquoise The public was invited to come and see on the palace's closing day (Mondays) but VDP was at work. So, what do you prefer? Before or after? Anyone interested in the historic restoration of Latona fountain should browse the palace's website dedicated to it. It's packed with information about techniques, history, mythology and a timeline of the restoration project! It's this way! VDP hasn't had a chance to go see it with water flowing yet, but should you so want to, check out VDP's mate's photos on his website, Pierrick Daul Photographie. They are gorgeous! VDP had introduced you to Pierrick here.

Quelle différence ! Latone est de retour ! Ces photos de début mai ont été prises par l'amie de VDP, l'Atelier Choco Turquoise. Le public était invité à observer, un lundi matin, jour de fermeture du château, mais VDP travaillait. Vous préférez avant ou après ? Le site du château dédié à la restauration du bassin est extrêmement bien fait pour toute personne intéressée par les techniques, l'histoire, la mythologie et l'évolution du chantier. Il est par ici. Retour sur les derniers travaux

There have been dramatic changes since March (see yesterday's post) at Latona fountain in the palace gardens... These photos were taken at the very beginning of May by VDP's friend Atelier Choco Turquoise and there's more to come tomorrow!

Il y a eu des changements énormes depuis mars (voir le billet d'hier) au bassin de Latone... Ces photos ont été prises tout début mai par l'Atelier Choco Turquoise, la suite demain !

These pictures were taken by VDP's friend Atelier Choco Turquoise in March 2015. An awful lot has happened at Latona fountain in the palace gardens lately. You had seen part of Latona fountain before its restoration on this blog here (with explanations regarding the mythology). To better see the state of disrepair it was in before restoration began, click here and scroll down a bit to about mid-page, under the video. In March 2014, VDP had also shown you the impressive three century old pipes being restored, that was here. Tomorrow you'll see what happened at the beginning of May. VDP couldn't attend (work and all that...) but her friend did!

Ces photos ont été prises en mars 2015 par l'amie de VDP, l'Atelier Choco Turquoise. Il s'est passé beaucoup de choses récemment au bassin de Latone  Vous aviez vu Latone avant restauration sur ce blog, c'était ici. Pour mieux voir l'état dans lequel se trouvait la fontaine avant restauration, cliquez ici. En mars 2014, VDP vous avait également montré l'impressionnante "araignée", la tuyauterie en cours de travaux, c'était là. Demain, vous verrez ce qui s'est passé début mai, VDP ne pouvait y assister (travaillant, toussa, toussa...) mais son amie s'y est rendue !

February CDP Theme Day: what would you miss?

Weekend Reflections: le pavillon frais en hiver

Like this reflection and that one, the above winter view of the Pavillon Frais ('fresh pavilion') with its cherubs fountain in the gardens of Petit Trianon castle was shot in the company of James! All Weekend Reflections are this way! To see the view if you turn around 180°, click here!
