CDP Blog Day: best photo of 2009

Oh what a hard choice it was. But I finally decided on this seasonal photo of the statue as a sentinel taken in February 2009. There is a runner up of course, the costume of a person going to Versailles ball on May 31, 2009. Will you help me to decide?

I'll take the snowy scene although the costume is exceptional. It is such a hard choice.

A few more hours for me. MB

Very tough choice, but I am most charmed by the costumed feet.

I like the costume shot.

I'm voting for the snow scene though they are both wonderful.

The statue as sentinel, hands down!

The costume is a striking photo. I think it was one of the first I saw on your blog. But I'd prefer to spend time in the snow scene. It's quite serene and beautiful. It looks like a place to think, but maybe not while you're freezing.

Two fabulous choices, Sam. Oh that shot in the snow is magical, magical. I love the way the person is standing in your second shot - seems to speak of the era he is dressed for.

I remember the second shot, it says so many things without showing much. The costume, the pose, the cobbled surface, the light, everything is right here. One of your best photos.

Oh gosh, that's such a tough choice, Ciel. The snowy scene is gorgeous but to me, the costume shot is just 'so Versailles' that I would have chosen it. Okay, I admit, it may be such a cliché since I haven't been there, but I think you understand what I mean. :)

Hard choice! I think I prefer the first. ;-)

O the snowy bench is definitely my favourite.

We've got lots of snow in Minnesota so I absolutely love the "costume and shoes on the cobblestones" photo better! Was Marie Antoinette zere, too?
Bon weekend!

Can't go wrong with snow and statues in my book!

Ah !

It's hard to pick a "best" from such a beautiful blog. I vote for la neige!

Paulie said...

I love both BUT of course I am going to choose the snowy scene, , , you should know that.

That snow scene is something right out of a 19th century novel. I'll have to pick it. All of your photos are fabulous!

I'm voting for the feet! Very well done!! The snow is nice, but I like the human connection in the second image.

Louis la Vache said...

Rather than "voting with his feet", «Louis» votes FOR the feet!

(Editor to «Louis»: You don't have feet, you stupid Vache! You have hooves!

«Louis to Editor: Yeah! And you are about to feel two of them on your arse!)

I really like them both. As much as I love the first one...I think I´ll vote for the costume. Beautiful light, well composed and it makes me smile!

I like everything about Versailles so I'm glad you included both, they're each so interesting and beautifully shot.

Both photos are wonderful but I love the snow scene - perfect and oh so cool to look at from hot Australia! Leigh

I will go for the costume one. There are so many nice details, the materials AND the light is very pretty too.

Glad you posted both! I surely remember the Ball de Versailles 'dancer'.

As to the Debussy thing, what a coincidence! And I took the shot in the 'afternoon'! :-)

I guess because I have the AC on here year round, I like the snowy shot!

Oh... I think it was hard to choose one photo as the best. Each one of yours are a piece of art.

I will take your snowy dreamy picture and dream of snow.
