L'hôtel de ville

Last Friday I was showing you the war memorial. It stands on the right hand side of Versailles Town Hall where the French army was holding an information and recruiting day on Friday. The French flags on the façade are due to V Day commemorations.
-------------------------------

Your first photo is superb. The second reminded me of being at the Eiffel Tower as members of the French Army drove up in a truck just like this one and unloaded a bunch of men who took up positions around the Eiffel Tower, relieving the soldiers who had been walking around for hours bored out of their skulls!

That is quite an ornate town hall. I guess we should expect no less from Versailles.

Ah, Jacob, I had the same thought. The young men and women in camoflage with large frightening guns at the La Tour Eiffel made an impresson on me when I was there. Should have made me feel safe but they looked so young.
L'Hotel d'ville is lovely and the colorful flags add a delightful touch of color.

City Hall is a magnificent looking building. I like the simple bunting of the french colors streaming down the center of the building.

There's a lot to be remembered in this very month. Sadly, our schools aren't paying much attention to history. And we all know what they say about the one who doesn't study his history. He will have to relive it.

Love the architecture of the building! And I hate to say it, but the soldiers really look good too.

Kiev Daily Photo has a photo commemorating WWII vets. Now seeing your post, I'm feeling very patriotic.

Love the contrast of the flag's colors with the stone, and the muted uniforms of the soldiers. So much movement in these still shots!

It's important to remember the past. Versailles appears to be very good at that!
