Today is Bastille Day, the French National Day, that we usually just call 'le quatorze juillet" or the 14th of July here. Here are the French bleu-blanc-rouge flags flying in the wind on Notre-Dame market place yesterday evening for the traditional 'bal populaire' or 'people's ball'. Stay tuned for more in the coming days!

I always remember July 14 is Bastille Day. I just forget that it is already the 14th in France while it's still the 13th here. Enjoy the festivities, and we'll look forward to your photos.

When Bastille Day is on a week day, the ball and fireworks are usually held on the 13th so that people working on the 15th can make the most of it.
Very nice, with the festive banners suspended from that handsome, traditional lamp post. Does one say "Happy Bastille Day?"
May it be a glorious day...I wonder if you will eat some cake?
Feliz dia da Bastilha
abraços do Brazil
Quatorze juillet! Hope that the skies are clear for fireworks!

I am a Bourbon fan, so I do not really honor July 14 very much. Louis XVI funded American Independence so I am more loyal to the crown than to the revolutionaries. I always the fact that revolutionaries had quite a surprise when they looked inside the Bastille and found it nearly empty, being used so seldom. But enjoy the fireworks and displays, and we who cherish the Bourbon family will just persist in remembering the likes of the kings and queens. France has never been quite so good since imho. Hahahaha
So beautiful flying in the wind.
Too bad that the Bastille itself no longer exists.
Happy 14th of July.
Your picture has a lot of life in it.

Ciao d'Italie.
The clouds make this image for me. Nice!
Happy quatorze !
Hope you get to make the "pont". :)
Don't worry I stay tuned! ;-))) Have fun!
Happy Bastille Day, Ciel! Lovely shot.
I've seen an amazing photo album of the opening of the exhibition in the apartments of the Grand Trianon dedicated to the influence of the 18th century on modern fashion with a number of Vivienne Westwood pieces on display. Have you heard of it?
I love the idea of a people's ball. The photo looks very dramatic with the sky in the background.
So happy to be here, we are just waiting for the fireworks to start!
Happy le quatorze juillet! Will there be fireworks?
Fanions - a new French word for me. Happy 14th July!
AH! I love seeing all those national flags. I hope you had a wonderful day!
Happy Bstille Day! Hope you had a great day. Love your shot with the flags :D
Oh dear, late for the party... Hope you had a grand Bastille Day, Ciel! I always wonder how/when the flags get up there in the lights so high... I so rarely see it being done! That's a nice lamp...
Hope you had a good quatorze juillet! I love the flags with the classic lamp posts.
