Suivez le guide

The... ahum... very Parisian guide beckons you to follow the umbrella in the palace entrance crowd!
--------------------------------
Pour retrouver votre guide dans la queue d'entrée au château, rien de tel qu'un parapluie... très parisien sous le soleil versaillais !

Looks quite familiar! But we had a wonderful guide...she was friendly and knowledgeable and always took time to answer questions, no matter how dumb mine sounded!

Denise came home from the hospital today! Yeah! We're hoping for the best. She's much improved. Lois Anne insists on staying with her for awhile until she's better able to get around...so...won't be heading home quite yet! :-)

I have a crazy friend who went to Japan before we started law school together. He couldn't stand the conformity of the local tourist groups. He claims he snatched the umbrella from a Japanese tour guide and went tear-assing through a temple, holding it high. The also claims that a couple dozen Japanese people panicked, dashing after the umbrella. I'd like to think this is true. Based on a few visits to Japan, I could certainly believe it.

I would follow gladly if it took me on a tour of Paris.

In Barcelona we had a tourist office guide where we all wore radio receivers and ear buds. No disturbing amplification, no umbrellas, no shouting to be heard. Let's hear it for technology!

I do not like tour guides and their hordes...

good news from Jacob, funny story from Bob, excellent suggestion from Oakland. I feel as if I've just spent a very informative moment at the water cooler.

OK, I'm in. Normally, I don't follow the crowd, but in this case, I'll make an exception :-)

I just can't do tour guides; I think it's the groups of people and knowing that I'm not going to discover anything on my own...and the following, I don't like that either. Wow, thanks for the therapy! :)

Even the umbrella screams PARIS. Yes, these guides are very visible as are her followers. Love the statue reflecting on the car seat in the previous post. Then.....as you look more.... the tourists looking! Wow! so much to see!

Funny comment a la Ocala truck wreck, and thanks for the XX for Denise!

Of course you can use the photo for a screensaver...you can use it however you wish except you can't sell it. :-)

And, if it should be you need it larger with more pixels, let me know and I shall oblige.

Hope you had a great day. I just took a break and wondered about the mountain for a few minutes...but much to do.

Following a guide can be interesting but also exhausting. I've done it in Innsbruck and round the Hermitage in St Petersburg where it was probably essential. I prefer finding things by myself even if I miss a lot.

I won't be joining, thanks... unless you are holding the umbrella! :-D

C'est une calamité ! Ces parisiens, ils sont vraiment partout ! Pourquoi pas des cars de touristes immatriculés 75, non plus ?!!
