Really beautiful. Real gold at one time?
How do they keep it so shiny?
Against the blue is great! "Sun King" keeps reminding me of an old Cult song!
normal c'est le roi soleil, il brillait partout. superbe ce détail de la grille
Holy cow..such grandeur and detail!
The Sun King--of course. Splendid shot. How do you pronounce soleil? You have forgotten my French lesson. LOL MB
Chic!Tellement élégant! :)J'aime beaucoup cette explication, idée!Léia
This looks exactly like the photos I took last year (posted on my blog early November 2009) Next time I visit Versaille, I would love to see the Potager - is it any good? and what else should I see?
Elle est belle la patine de la grille. Elle semble moins tape à l'oeil que l'Oval Buddha doré de Takashi Murakami qui lui fait pendant de l'autre coté du château.
Modesty wasn't one of his virtues, if he had any, but this is gorgeous!
How very beautiful with that flawless blue sky in the background.
I thought it was a map from the thumbnail - I'm not used to seeing such elaborate designs!
The detail in this gate is amazing right down to the tassles on the banner. This could be the cover of a book about Versailles. Gorgeous.
I agree, classy picture worthy of a book cover.
You and another blogger have inspired me to get some city shots of our town this weekend. I like this detail shot, Ciel.Sharon
A very nice detail! The gold and blue look great together.
I have never seen such a shiny, golden gate but then, what else should I expect from the home of the Sun King?
@ all: it is actually gold leaf.
It's gorgeous and must cost a lot to keep it in perfect condition!
Gold leaf? Really? I've never seen such a perfect shine on leaf. What a great detail shot of the sun king's gate, Ciel.
This is gorgeous!
