Last Sunday, on a glorious, sunny autumn day, the 32nd Paris-Versailles race took place. 20.000 people ran from the Eiffel Tower to Versailles Palace, a distance of 16 kilometres, or 9.94 miles. A big crowd had turned out on the Avenue de Paris to watch the last two kilometres. All the information about this now classic race can be found here.

There really is quite a crowd here. Ah! So the palace is 16 kilometres from the Eiffel Tower. I've never been to Paris so I'm beginning to cevelop a map inside my head. ;-)
I like the bottom picture. So many leaves.
I could never dream of doing this. Better to sip a glass of wine and wave in support. However, our son and Chicago photoblogger is running the Chicago Marathon a week from Sunday and we will go up to cheer him on. Hope he makes it all the way.
great photo and light. the image shows such dynamic human energy and goal setting.
Beaucoup de spectateurs pour regarder les coureurs. Jolies couleurs d'automne.
C'est un coup de bol pour le sportif vetu en rouge meme si j'avais deja la photo en tete avant qu'il ne se presente.
I love the withering leaves I'd love to visit during this season and I'd be glad to walk the ten miles.
I was tired on the train, I can't imagine running all the distance from Paris.
I enlarged the photo to see you. You did run, didn't you? Must have been a fun event.
What a great picture of the runners. What a lovely day. We have had some beautiful days but the rains started last night. Here to stay it seems. MB
I couldn't do it. Walking, perhaps, if I had all day or maybe not. A velo might get me there in a day.. hahaha or not.
It is good to see that there are still leaves on the trees. Tell them to hang on until I get there.
I thought you would participate on the race but, of course, someone had to take the photos! :-)))
No, I didn't run. I kind of agree with Bob.
I'm not a runner, but I like to watch the races as a spectator. These are great photos. I especially like the last one framed by the tree with all those leaves on the ground. I really miss the falling leaves of autumn.
Heureusement qu’ils ont eu des beau temps. J’imagine qu’il y aurait beaucoup moins de participation sous la pluie. Je vais en Allemagne la semaine prochaine et j’espère qu’on aura aussi de beau temps.
I've watched the London Marathon many times with never one single thought about taking part, a nice hot coffee and a sit down is my idea of good Sunday morning these days!! Love the guy in black with the wild hair >:o)
IF I ran that would be one I would do and enjoy!!!
oh je connais j'ai déjà participer 3 fois dans les années 1990 assez dur surtout la cote des gardes ici il y a moins de monde qui court
