Someone -I cannot remember who, sorry- once asked me on this blog if all Versailles buildings were old and beautiful. Here's the answer. This is Satory neighbourhood.
Last Sunday, on a glorious, sunny autumn day, the 32nd Paris-Versailles race took place. 20.000 people ran from the Eiffel Tower to Versailles Palace, a distance of 16 kilometres, or 9.94 miles. A big crowd had turned out on the Avenue de Paris to watch the last two kilometres. All the information about this now classic race can be found here.

Until December, several of Xavier Veilhan's sculptures are visible at the palace. This one, aptly called "the carriage" stands right in the main courtyard.In the first picture, you can see the king's stables in the background. More information this way.

A night view of a detail of the inner courtyard of the palace, and a bonus video of Leto fountain which I have shown you here. I love the powerful sound of the water and the background baroque music, just barely audible. This is a detail of the golden inner gate of the palace. The photo was taken at night, after the Water Nights. The court I was showing you yesterday (visible here on the right in the first photo) is located on "Versailles Grand Siècle" esplanade, a huge condo complex built between 1968 and 1970. No less than 1213 apartments and several shops! The name, "Grand siècle" or "big century", is a reminder of Versailles' and France's heyday during the 17th century, the beginning of the modern age, when philosophers, scientists, playwrights, writers, painters and musicians bloomed and left their incredible legacy.
Versailles is the seat of many courts, amongst others of the administrative Court of appeals competent for appeals for the original jurisdictions of several departments west of Paris. 
I have already shown you Notre-Dame church here. These are side and back views. Eight years already have passed. I will never forget 9/11. The memory still chills me to the bone.

It's blackberry time! You can actually find a few in Versailles, in this case in the grounds of Madame Elisabeth's orangerie! You have to be swift though! There aren't many! 
Versailles being a very recent town, (its construction really began at the very end of the 17th century) its avenues are among the widest in France and at the time, were the widest. 
I spotted this house and liked the three levels and ornamentation!
