At this rate, I'll never become an opera fan, I'll be too busy sneaking out to take photographs.
The statues next to the doors are very interesting as are the faces on the doors. It makes you wonder what inspired the people who created these amazing things.
I admire your ability to take such great photos as I know how difficult it is. The natural beauty is there but the real art is in capturing it. You did a marvelous job with this perspective of a fantastically beautiful portal!
Okay, no one will be able to top these doors for their ornate, over-the-top appeal... It is as if the designer was only going to have one project in his/her life and threw everything into this one setting -- wonderful!
I think it's incredible how royalty lived in the time of Louis xiv. But then, I really cannot comprehend the opulence that rich people live in now, either. :)

As I recall, many doors inside the palace look like this (well the statuary is different...) So much beauty. It's hard to absorb it all.
I love the colors and this room!!!
That is such a rich shot, Ciel. Statues, gilding, fluting, gold, marble, everything!
that is amazing! I have posted about doors of the upper east side in nyc and each one has it's own personality. great shot...Thanx !!
So ornate! So much dusting! :)
Love the symmetry and grandeur. But, those door handles look so itty bitty! : )
I remember this place. Oh, how I would love to have my own private opera. Dream on.

Toujours cette porte ou façade somptueux comme tout le reste.
Beautiful as always.
tu n'as pas traduit en Français, comment veux tu que je comprenne ton message ;o)) une vraie porte royale
An opera in the palace? Why not? They had their own church in the palace

A bit overdone, but absolutely awesome!
So Ornamental. Is anything minimalist in Versaille? xxx

Petite porte d'interieur, mais O combien grandiose par ses statues et ornements!
Great door, Ciel, so fabulously ornate!

VP and Diane kind of reflect my thoughts on this royal opera door. Royal, for sure!
That is such a beautiful door.
The doors are an introduction to the beauty of the music yet to come!

Those sculptures by the side of the door are soooo impressive!
