I'm back! Jet-lagged as hell and with 'old' photos! This is what's left of Hôpital Richaud, the former royal hospital. Its history goes as far back as 1636 when it was an almshouse. The current ruin was built as a civilian hospital from 1781 to 1859 to plans by C-F Darnaudin. After a recent fire, it is soon to become... a very upscale condo, keeping its historic style and features.Je suis de retour, la tête à l'Ouest et avec de "vieilles" photos ! Voici ce qui reste de l'hôpital Richaud, l'ancien hôpital royal. A l'origine maison de charité dès Louis XIII en 1636, la ruine actuelle fut construite entre 1781 et 1859 sur les plans de C-F Darnaudin, et après un récent incendie, va bientôt devenir... un immeuble d'habitation de luxe.

I'm glad the exterior will remain, although I sometimes think are already enough upscale condos in the world. Welcome back! (I'm still jet-lagged, too.)

Welcome back. I suppose the upside is the the exterior stays the same. But where will the car park be for all those must have 4 x 4 that are essential city transport???

Le jet lag viendrait de ce que nous avons plusieurs rythmes qui doivent être en phase ; en ce moment lorsque tu es réveillée tu as la température de quelqu’un qui dort.
Je crois aussi que dans la tête tu es encore ailleurs.
Un hôpital en ruine (de belles ruines) qui aurait pu tout aussi bien être un couvent ou un collège. Les architectes ne se foulaient guère à l’époque sauf qu’il fallait que ce soit beau et que cela se la pète.

Might be cool to have a condo in an old hisoric building like that... but I'd never pay a premium for a place without a view. Welcome home. I just arrived back in Bucharest.
