Wednesday Doorway: dans la cour de la bibliothèque municipale

Before we go inside: the main public library's entrance on the Avenue of the American Independence is strikingly beautiful (see it here). The inner courtyard isn't half bad either...
--------------
Avant d'entrer : si le portail côté Ave. de l'Indépendance Américaine est somptueux (rattrapage par ici), côté cour les portes ne sont pas mal non plus...

What a library! I love the grandness (Is that a word? It suddenly sounds familiar and unfamiliar!).

What a beautiful entrance! You lead inside and I'll follow.

The space feels a little closed in, though, claustrophobic. I bet what is inside is gorgeous.

Magnificent entrance and courtyard. The keystones above the windows are phenomenal.

It is impressive that the designers added so much embellishment to an interior courtyard. For many buildings, that would be considered a fancy main entrance.

Another architectural beauty..One of the great things about your site is I can improve my French by comparing and contrasting your bilingual entries!

Are the books as big as the library?

Very beautiful entrance, with huge windows and I like the symmetric lines there!

I am curious about the twin coats of arms above the entrance...

A grand building with a grand purpose.

Je me demande si a l'origine, les portes occupaient tout l'espace , là où il y a maintenant des fenêtres au-dessus; C'est si immense!

And here I thought we had a nice looking main library in Sarasota! This is amazing -- striking indeed.

C'est étonnant qu'il n'y ait personne en train de fumer une clope.

I would say the inner court is beautiful.

I like all those windows to let in as much light as possible.

What a fantastic place for a library! Many places to read, I'm sure!

How interesting..I missed seeing this yesterday so today I saw the interior before scrolling to the exterior. Proves that you cannot judge a library by its exterior, doesn't it? Just very intimidating in its beauty and charm.

The mixed materials and colors on this building are quite striking.

Libraries should be awesome and wondrous. I would enjoy roaming through this one.
