Après le marché

A manoeuvering lorry on Notre-Dame market place on Sunday afternoon, taking away the stalls...

I marvel at how they can maneuver in small areas.

Somehow I've never given any thought as to how market stalls were put up or taken down, or brought there and then taken away. One of those learning experiences I didn't expect! Very interesting.

Je les ai vu a l'oeuvre de nombreuses fois a Paris. Ca pese relativement lourd ces baches roulees...

It's a job, but at least it's outdoors.

We certainly don't see anything like that - the big trailer trucks - at our markets in Asia!

That's a big load!
So the market literally folded? ;)

It is always interesting to watch people at work...

Had a chuckle at Dina's comment. It's true though Ciel, we don't think of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes, I would be a disaster trying to maneuver one of those huge trucks!!

Fascinante la façon dont ce matériel apparaît et disparaît... Tout un art.

Nous on a un marché qui ne bouge pas, des etals et des tentes rayées installées à l'année. Juste des gens qui nettoient et arrosent quand c'est fini, pas de camions..

Every thursday there's a market (of no interest at all!) at Carcavelos, next to Oeiras. You should see the mess when it's over!...

How do they turn corners?

@ Kaori: you wait until they do it metre per metre! These photos were taken while I was at the driving wheel, waiting for the manoeuvre to be finished!
