Cathédrale Saint-Louis

Saint-Louis cathedral after morning market. To see all cathedral posts, inside and out, click on the label below. Oh! And there's the same view today on Artsy Versailles. It's different though!
--------------------------------------
Après le marché. Ah oui, et il y a la même vue aujourd'hui sur Artsy Versailles. Enfin, la même mais différente !

I love this church I think it was designed by Mansard? Or is it another church in Versailles.

I saw the other site first and now understand the whole picture! Those white, puffy clouds are a great background with the little bit of blue right above the central spire.

Une tres belle perspective avec l'eglise au fond.
Pour moi tout va bien merci. Le nord du Japon a ete durement touche surtout par le tsunami qui a ete devastateur...

Wonderfully composed...with the cathedral in the center and that gorgeous sky looking ready to explode!

I like the way the cathedral kind of sits low to the ground...on the same level as the other buildings...more appropriate, I think, theologically, than religious structures set higher than the surrounding "profane" buildings.

Now over to Artsy V.

Ah...re your header: Ooops! But I did think you had changed the font style...no?

May I be excused on the basis of advanced age and memory loss?

This is simply a beautiful place, Ciel, and your capture is wonderful. The sky is also wonderful, with the colorful clouds and the spot of blue poking through. I like it.

What a beautiful street. I love the blue spot right above the cross.

This is a fantastic angle on this shot. I'm off to check out the other view. :)

This image gives the church a feeling of foreboding and dark power. Looks quite a bit different from the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis here!

You're right, it's the same view but different! Your photos let me know how many wonderful things there are to see. I'm sure I'll only manage to see a few, so I thank you for your wonderful blog!

I remember seeing this when I visited Versailles in October, 2009. I am so happy to see it here now. Merci!

This is one of the few parts of Versailles I know, I like that church!

@ Andrew: Mansard dabbled in everything... :-)

@ Jacob: all churches built under the builder kings were to stay below a certain height: that of the palace. Such was the king's wish.

Cool blue splotch just above the steeple. Did you plan it that way? hahahaha

And the king was god in his own realm! That's what power does. Corrupts. Absolutely. In church or state. Or anywhere else.

Have a great rest of the weekend!

The sky is very dramatic. Will it rain or be sunny. The virtually empty street gives the sense of loneliness. Very powerful image Ceil, bravo!

I love this view! Aside from the Vespas, I can imagine various people through periods of time inhabiting these streets.
