Le foot

I hate soccer with a passion, but I couldn't resist this café scene near the covered market last Saturday, people watching the quarter final of the 2010 World Cup. Germany beat Argentina 4-0.

Je déteste le football, ce qui n'est évidemment pas le cas de tout le monde. Ici, le quart de finale de la Coupe du Monde samedi dernier où l'Allemagne a battu l'Argentine 4-0.

Do you put your life in peril to make such an admission?

Well, there's no slew of angry comments yet! I myself am totally indifferent to soccer... like most Americans were until, for some unfathomable reason, this year. Maybe we got tired of baseball. Anyhoo-- nice picture!

That's a brave statement to make in France! :)
I like watching the footballers and the highlights on TV.
Fun capture.

I think you must one of very view Europeans who hate soccer...although they're aren't too many people watching the match in this cafe...

Sorry about you're dream. Horrible! I had a bad one last night, too. I was trying to carry Haley through the snow while her back leg was being attacked by wolves! The only thing I can figure is Haley was very sick a few days ago...hip dysplasia and other problems and couldn't get up very well. She's doing fine now, after a trip to the vet and some medications.

LOL! I'm not a big fan either. I like to watch Baseball, Basketball, or Lacrosse, preferably at the College level.

Lovely picture!

Dislike soccer? Blasphemy in your area! : )

Most Americans get semi-interested in soccer every four years so it's almost time to forget it again. I was pulling for Argentina, probably because that's the only country where I've been to a professional match.

I don't care much for soccer either, but I am a BIG fan of cafes!

But if you had to watch a game, doing so here would be perfect. Especially in those great French, red chairs. I do like soccer, although I don't follow it. But I think the players get rather dramatic whenever they fall down.

et ben j'aime le foot et j'adore le partager entre amis dans les cafés, on peut discuter, s'engueuler, faire la fête, c'est toujours très conviviale.

My brother missed his flight from the USA to France (his first trip to Europe) in part because he was watching the World Cup too much instead of packing his suitcase and leaving for the airport. He says that it was a traffic jam on the highway to the airport. He got a flight the next day.

Moi non plus je ne suis pas fan de foot. L'argent qui gravite autour de ce sport est trop important...
La photo du cafe est tres bien par contre.

Not a great football fan, but I watch final rounds of the World Cup. Germany was my favorite for winner, now I'm betting on Netherlands...

Not a soccer fan, either, Ciel. :-) We are enjoying the Tour de France.

I don't understand the fascination with soccer either. I'm afraid we are in the minority. :)

The only team sport I like to watch is baseball, which many people find too slow.

P.S. Nice photo even if they are watching something you detest. Sorry, I got distracted by a ship's horn. We have sun in the sky and fog on the river. Where is my camera???

I'm not fond of football either. I like to watch tennis, but not on television.
