The sky was ablaze

Yesterday evening on my way home from work the sky was ablaze...By the time I'd driven the last 2 miles, it had already faded ...So unfortunately I didn't make it to the palace and all I do have to show is a lonesome street lamp!
--------------------------

Aw...these are so nice. Like you say, the sky was ablaze and you caught it perfectly. But I like the other more muted photo with the street lamp, too; has a kind of haunted quality about it.

What a beautiful view.....too bad you didn't get to the palace before the sun went down....

The sky is stunning, love the first one especially. I hope that I am posting on your site tonight. How I managed yesterday's post is anyone guess, probably couldn't do that again if I tried, lol.

Indeed, a beautiful, fiery sky.

Ablaze, indeed! Marvelous, but so is the lamp shot with its soft pastels and strong patterns of the trees.

I particularly love the second one. Its backlighting and the absolutely gorgeous and romantic lonely street lamp.

Gorgeous sky and lovely composition.

Beautiful shots, both of them, but I really like the second photo. I like the bare tree branches reaching upwards and the subtle coloration of the sky. All this topped off with the beautiful iron lantern with the curlicue bend holding the light. I think this may be a more magnificient shot than you would have gotten of the palace. Sometimes it is the simple things that are more beautiful and often overlooked.

Nice sunset! It is a shame that you didn't make it to the palace, but I do like the lamp.

Thank you for your kind words regarding my photo of children playing in the snow. Believe it or not, one of the hardest parts of this candid photo was making sure their faces were turned to respect their anonymity. Children love to turn and pose!

I adore your blog and just love the great comments you leave on others' blogs; frequently, I trail you in viewing/commenting.

I liked the lonely street lamp but especially the change from the first photo background to the end of the road picture. Catching the lamp in it was an added bonus.
