Le Petit Trianon, acte III, scène I

The top left-hand photo of this collage is the view from Marie-Antoinette's bedroom at le Petit Trianon, towards the "English river" which was created by Richard Mique in 1777-1780 and winds around the charming Temple of Love, also his work. You can read about this architect, who was favoured by the queen, by clicking here. The statue by Edmé Bouchardon represents Amour or Love, carving his bow out of Hercules' club. I have to add that the swans on the river weren't in the least cooperative...

Beautiful architecture like that don't need swans. . . I enjoy my armchair tour. Thanks for dropping by my place too.

Nice collage, CQ! And these structures are exquisite. You know, I think I recall seeing a gazebo-like thingy in the distance when we were at Versailles...

Hope you have a great day!

what a view from Marie Antoinette's bedroom. Very pretty architecture. Sometimes I wonder what it would have been like to live in that time period.

Great collage of this wonderful architecture, the side portraits of The Builders and The Ladies are excellent to illustrated the period.

"Temple de l'Amour" in front of her bedroom. That's a homage to love.

Like seeing the beautiful grounds. Those pesky swans, never pose like you want them to!

Their loss. Those swans could have had their fifteen minutes of fame right now! ;)

A beautiful estate! How wonderful it has not been destroyed during any of the wars that followed and it's even more wonderful that the people of France value their history!
