La maison des parfums

When visiting the brand new 'cour des senteurs' or scents courtyard, the first building one enters is 'la maison des parfums' or 'house of perfumes' where important dates in the history of perfumery are presented from as far back as the 1st century and scents can be smelled via little spray machines!

It must be challenging to present different scents without having them all run together.

Interesting places. I don't have a 'good' nose though.

I love that first shot, I was trying to imagine how the repository might be structured and this is so fascinating. I love that you get little spray machines! (Also, Perfume of the Guillotine! Haha, I wonder if it outsells Chanel No. 5:)

On dit qu'a Versailles, la Cour se lavait peu et se parfumait beaucoup. La tradition se serait-elle maintenue ?

Patrick Süskind's book came immediately to my mind. I can only imagine the different scents in the air over there.

Some "allergic" folks would find this place a threat! :) Make scents to me!

We visited a perfumery in Paris. Lois loved it. I took pictures. Mostly outside. :)

All is well. Thanks!

Sounds interesting but unfortunately I'm allergic to certain parfums. I would take a chance and go in. :-)

Great idea! Do the old-timey perfumes smell good? I often wonder if the idea of what is "good" change with the times?
