September City Daily Photo Theme Day: people watching

Those of you who have been following VDP know I am reluctant to photograph people. Also, I did not have time to go out for a photographic walk. So what you are looking at is the man who has been people watching for a long, long time. He watches millions walk by him every year. Yes, it's the statue of Louis XIV which I have shown you in detail here and here. To see more theme day interpretations, check Julie's Theme Day blog. It's this way. Happy September ladies and gents!

Ah, welcome to September, Ciel!! We're enjoying such beautiful weather and temps here in Seattle lately, that I don't care what month or season it is!! I'm just enjoying! Hope you have a great, fun weekend! Enjoy!

You are a wee bit skittish about photographing people. I don't know why. Most of them like to be photographed. I even get asked by some to take their pictures.

And I see you're so skittish you even took the rear view of Louis XIV! :-)

I like your choice for theme day.
Happy September to you too...

I'd say he is the ultimate uber people watcher! Oh, think of what those eyes have seen... :) Lovely shadow and light. Happy September to you too!

(Oh dear, given I'm not a FB-er and only just learning the Sept. theme day, I'm scrambling too - time to join FB, I think :)

Looks like the early twilight of the grand monarchy.

Time to broaden your photographic horizons?

Yes, me too. I love the mood of your silhouette against the warm sky!

Oh my it's Theme day. I will have to scramble. I love your choice for the theme.

Ah so artistic, clever, and fitting for the Versailles blog to offer such an interpretation of people watching.

An original take on the theme Ciel, well done..but you know i can't imagine anyone objecting to having their photo taken and shown on excellent blog!

Great interpretation of the theme day. While I do photograph people, I try not to picture their faces, as I understand that sometimes it is an intrusion on my part.

Wonderful image! He watches millions indeed.

One of the suggestions for the October Theme Day is for 'silhouettes'. We will try to work out a method to inform non FB members and afford them a vote.

Meanwhile, you have scrambled exceedingly well to provide us with this wonderful rear shot of Louis. The colouring is just perfect as summer slips over the horizon for yet another year.

I am also hesitant to photograph people. This is an interesting interpretation of Theme Day.

I also don't really like to photograph people I don't know Ciel. That's why I took my shot today with iPhone.
But I love the idea of Louis XIV being Versailles' official people watcher. Great idea for the theme day!

Oh yes, I bet Louis XIV is totally fed up of watching people! :-) Great silhouette, Ciel.

Not a big fan of it either, could never do a blog like Steffen in Haningue. Mais le grand Loulou fera tres bien l' affaire!

Before I opened your site, I wondered what you would show, as I thought to myself that the person most people who come to Versailles would want to watch is the Sun King. You exceeded my expectations with your clever photo from an unusual angle. Witih a great background as well.

I'm glad you liked the photo of the old bridge, its so peaceful there now. The bridge will soon reopen and chaos will return :-(
