Wednesday Doorway: Tucson, Arizona

Of course not, yet this doorway, seen in Saint-Louis neighbourhood, immediately reminded me of Tucson. Check out why on Convent Avenue in Tucson, Arizona @ Thoughts in Images!
------------------------------

Conciliabule secret

Secrets exchanged and plans hatched on Sunday when the temperature soared to about 90° making me go in search of a cool breeze in Balbi park which was originally created in 1786 by the Count of Provence, Louis the 16th's brother and future Louis the 18th.

It was so hot on Saturday that there was a long queue to buy the delicious ice-cream at Notre-Dame covered market. I couldn't be bothered to stand in line, so I went here and got a peach and hazelnut one!
-----------------

When I went to run a few errands yesterday, I happened upon a stage. Remember it's Molière Month? Well, this was amateur theatre near the covered market, a loose adaptation of Tennessee Williams' works, called "sur la route de Tennessee", i.e. on the road to Tennessee. It was actually quite good stuff, by l'Atelier Théâtre des Deux Rives.

This is the main branch of the "Caisse d'Epargne". Literally translated, caisse d'épargne means "savings till". It is, in fact, originally a building society (is it savings and loans association in the USA?) that has become a bank just like any other these days. Still, the building itself is characteristic of these French building societies.

If you still haven't got any geraniums gracing your windows, now is the time to get them at the flower market!
---------------------------

Some of you might remember that June is Molière month in Versailles: a series of theatrical events commemorating the great playwright. Most shop windows sport these lovely commedia dell'arte stickers to advertise for the event. To see last year's posts, click on the label below and for this year's edition, info is this way (in French).

Choses vues au vide-grenier de samedi

Things as seen at Saturday's car boot sale. 1 euro for each beer glass. Personally, I prefer the old school desk, complete with ink wells!
--------------

Going to Paris? Keep on going says the sign, it's a straight enough street with trees that have had their haircut.

That's me -well... a part of me and a part of another person, with apples, apricots and peaches, reflected in a mirror at the greengrocer's in Saint-Louis neighbourhood last weekend for James' Wekeend Reflections meme.
---------------------------------

Learn to drive with a royal twist at Saint Louis driving school! All about king Saint-Louis of France (1214-1270) here. I've just now noticed that I'm there, reflected, too.

Wednesday Doorway: pur Versailles

This shop is where copies of Antiques can be found -yes, that's what it says right there! I kind of think the door is very inviting and the furniture is beautiful, in pure Versailles style.
-------------------------------

June CDP Theme Day: Funny Signs

Okay, would you really attempt to drive through there if even there hadn't been any 'do not enter' signs? The second photo shows a hand made sign in Saint-Louis neighbourhood and roughly translates as:
'Do not park in front of the door, bicycles and large parcels come out of here, risk of scratches. Thank you'.
--------------------------
