I'm not showing you a photograph today. A couple of months ago, I was telling you that the Grand Trianon had been built for king Louis the 14th where a porcelain palace had stood before. This is it... It was built between 1670 and 1672 by architect Louis Le Vau for Madame de Montespan, mistress of the sun king with porcelain coming from Rouen, Lisieux, Nevers and Saint-Cloud. I believe Sharon of Photographing an Island wanted to see this, so here it is!-----------------------------

Il y a quelques temps, je vous expliquais que le Grand Trianon avait été érigé pour Louis XIV là où s'élevait auparavant "le trianon de porcelaine" que voici. Il a été construit de 1670 à 1672 par Louis Le Vau pour Madame de Montespan, favorite du roi soleil, avec des porcelaines de Rouen, Lisieux, Nevers et Saint-Cloud.

amazing craft and worth seeing. It is amazing how talented some people are. I love to see such talent although being an artist is such a tough road.
Are you kidding? I can't believe I've never heard of this. It's amazing. I've seen the traditional porcelain heaters in some European countries, and that's about as much porcelain as I've ever seen in one place. I find them fascinating, so I really love this porcelain palace!
Porcelain makes me think of dolls and delicate little figurines. But a whole building? Maybe it's part on the attitude that, two kings later, meant that the peasants had no bread.
