Norman Rockwell

There's a wonderful exhibition (and sale) of original, signed Norman Rockwell prints at the moment at Anagama Gallery in the antiques district (until 6 April). The gallery is located in the former court and prison which I had shown you here. Above, Rockwell's famous triple self-portrait.

Il y a une fabuleuse expo (et vente) de lithographies originales signées de Norman Rockwell à la galerie Anagama jusqu'au 6 avril. La galerie se trouve dans l'hôtel du Bailliage, que je vous montrais ici en vous narrant l'histoire des lieux. Ci-dessus, le fameux triple autoportrait de l'artiste.

A l'hôtel du Bailliage

Last Saturday the Christmas decorations were still adding a splash of colour to the courtyard of the antiques district Bailliage building. It was built in 1724 and used to house the court and prison before the French Revolution. It later became the assizes court until 1839. I have found no info on this sculpture bench...

Les décos de Noël égayaient encore samedi dernier. L'hôtel fut construit en 1724 sur les plans de Monsieur Tannevot et abritait le tribunal et la prison sous l'Ancien Régime, avant de devenir la Cour d'assises après la Révolution. Désaffecté en 1839, il est aujourd'hui occupé par des antiquaires. Je n'ai trouvé aucune info sur le banc-sculpture.

L'hôtel du Bailliage

Here are yesterday's two polar bears in the courtyard of the hôtel du Bailliage. No, it isn't a hotel, nor was it ever. It now houses antiques shops, but was built in 1724 and used to house the court and prison before the French Revolution. It later became the assizes court until 1839. I think it's a gorgeous building!
