Lumière dorée

This is the golden evening light on the palace façade looking into the hall of mirrors (can you see the chandeliers?) and a third shot looking towards the palace chapel.

La lumière dorée du soir se fait chatoyante sur la façade du château, les lustres de la galerie des glaces (vous les voyez ?) et une vue vers la chapelle royale

This is one of the best times of day to photograph. I've read that "real" photographers get up before dawn, sleep during the day, get back out to take pictures as the sun starts down.

Sounds like too much commitment to me. But sometimes one is in the right place at the right time. I remember walking into the Hall of Mirrors. I was stunned - had seen nothing like it.

I do hope you have some other photos of your trip to show us...please?

Me again wishing you a great day and answering your question on Colorado: Yup, that's a brilliant blue Colorado sky reflected! BTW, that restaurant had a French ambiance...
