As we are (supposed to be, 22°C/72°F on Tuesday) moving into darker and colder days, here's the fireplace in Hercules' room inside the palace. I had shown you the room's gorgeous ceiling
here. There is a part monochrome, part colour photo of a painting on
Artsy Versailles.
Comme les journées raccourcissent et (sont censées, 22° mardi) se rafraîchir, voici la cheminée du salon d'Hercule au château. Je vous avais montré le fabuleux plafond du salon
ici. Il y a un monochrome partiel d'un tableau sur
Artsy Versailles.

Beautiful details, but that's to be expected!
Let's check out that ceiling...
Beautiful detail indeed and your captures are terrific! Thanks for sharing, Ciel!!
Oh good! Let's start a fire. :-)
Beautiful.
No need of fire here now, but I appreciate the fireplace and the ready logs...
I wonder. How did roaring fires even attempt to heat these monstrous rooms?
The grandeur of this place is something unlike anything I'd ever seen...it literally took my breath away.
Fireplaces are good. I had to laugh, though. We have a small electric one which provides just enough heat on a cool Florida morning. Compared to this fireplace it looks like a mini-stove!
Ahem...I agree and applaud your desire to post Versailles pics on VDP. But, you have another blog or two...right? ;)
I'm just pulling your leg. Sort of.
Pretty amazing...Beautiful designs indeed!
When I visit old buildings in Europe with all those fireplaces, I wonder how uncomfortable the rooms were in winter. Fireplaces don't radiate heat very far,the windows must have been very drafty and so on.
Quite the details! I'd love to have a fireplace that massive, but it wouldn't need to be so decorative.
;-)
Hope you're having a sunny Saturday!

Whoa, that is a massive fireplace, I've never seen one that uses logs that large, I bet it keeps the room toasty on those cold nights.
Ciel, the artistry and craftsmanship are just amazing!
A 'Herculean' fireplace for sure Ciel! The details are fabulous.
Absolutely gorgeous!
The surgery went fine. The next three days were awful but now I'm OK. Thanks for your care, Ciel.
