The recorder and the theorbo: one listens religiously. The floor shot was actually taken in the upper vestibule of the royal chapel.
La flûte et le théorbe : on écoute religieusement. La seconde photo a été prise dans le vestibule haut de la chapelle royale.

Cool! Though the top photo doesn't do justice to the outlandish size of the theorbo! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCRAY8WFDRo
This series has been so terrific, Ciel!! Thanks for sharing!!
Well, I *had* to google the theorbo to hear what it sounds like - no wonder one listens religiously! Beautiful shot of a beautiful instrument.
That is quite an instrument. I need to listen to it on youtube!
I like the design on the floor.
I too had to watch the You tube clip as I had never heard of it . Thanks.
Un luth à long manche?
Et un sol que j'aimerais bien copier chez nous...
Thanks for the link Whit. You're right but the photos I took while he was playing were a bit blurred...
What a fabulous event, I like her dress, she looks gorgeous!

I love that they have period clothing. Is the theorboer standing on a pedestal?
I had to google that instrument. Great costumes.
@ Wayne: yes!
Nice shots! I hope you are planning to watch (or even record) Des Racines et des Ailes this evening (Wednesday on France3).
@ Stuart: no but I'll find a way of catching up!
I'm off to google theorboer right now, this is my new thing for today, merci beaucoup Ciel :)
You always have such interesting posts. I am learning so much--thanks.
Did you get my various emails?
I post a pic for you today. MB
The théorbe reminds me of Vermeer!
You were able to get some very nice shots of this event and the people and their costumes. I've never heard of the theorbo before. I've known some theologians but there music was usually off-key! :))
I've heard that instrument played once. Very peculiar sound to the contemporary ear.
Beautifully shot!
