Les tombes prussiennes au cimetière Notre Dame
Inside Notre-Dame cemetary is a German plot. 545 Prussian soldiers, one nurse and 18 French soldiers were laid to rest here during the 1870 Franco-Prussian war.

I am now away again, this time in Quimper. VDP continues automatically. See you soon.

I didn't know this, very interesting post and photos.
Fascinating! And a reminder of how stupid human beings can be. Sorry, I'm a little frustrated tonight about the US's war ventures in the Middle East...
Noteworthy to see a tombstone written "auf Deutsch" in a French cemetery! Nice photos!
very interesting. I recently found graves of young French soldiers in my local cemetary. They were here for training during World War 2 and I think they died in a plane crash.
The Franco-Prussian War! I had almost forgotten about that one. It is a good thing we have such graves to remind us of our history.

How to make a website
Our military cemetary here has gravestones for many from different countries -- most just have their name and country and sometimes the yer of death. There is even a nurse from another country buried here. It is a surprise to find out these things sometimes.
