Ciné de plein air

Les Yvelines font leur cinéma Versailles Trianon Palace 2015
Last Thursday evening, this year's edition of open air movies in various cities of the whole Yvelines department was launched in the garden of Trianon Palace hotel in Versailles (the 'county town' of the Yvelines). It had poured with rain all morning but the weather forecast wasn't too bad for the evening and there was a huge turnout! Thankfully, VDP's friend had been able to arrive earlier than her to reserve seats in the front row! It actually rained a bit during the movie but not enough to make anyone leave!

A great setting for a movie. There was a weekend of these here at Rideau Hall this past weekend- I should have gone!

There have been open air movies at various locations around the city all summer but somehow I have missed them all so far!

We have this here and there but I've never been. Why would I want to sit on a hard chair in the park when I could see it from my sofa on Netflix at home?

The arbor looks wonderful! Have you seen the German movie, Phoenix? Very interesting with a terrific ending.

Looks like a very popular event! We have an open air screening of Close Encounters near the Happy Valley next month, weather permitting of course!

Love the place, a bit less the weather. My only fear at open air movies are mosquitoes...

How great it is to have friends to save you a front-row seat!

Great fun! Our open air movies won't start until October. It's still too hot right now. Ours doesn't put chairs out like this. I'd like that better I think.

What a wonderful setting for outdoor movies Ciel, I'm glad the rain didn't spoil the evening. Looking forward to ours starting up again, will have to wait until February.

That's a really cool idea, there should be more events like this. And what a venue!

What an amazing post! I'm happy that you got to attend and take these photos to share. All around the Portland metropolitan area there are outdoor showings of films throughout the summer. I have yet to attend one, mainly because I'm not certain that I could stay awake until it gets dark enough for the film to begin. Now that I'm older, I get drowsy earlier. I did attend Shakespeare at our vintage cemetery, Lone Fir, but we didn't need for it to be dark for it to begin. It proved to be a splendid event.

Kino im Freien ist toll, allerdings nur im Sommer.
