Le rocher

Le rocher Petit Trianon Versailles
Two pictures of the frozen pond of 'le rocher' (the rock) which was designed by landscape painter Hubert Robert and built by Richard Mique in 1783 for Marie-Antoinette's garden at Petit Trianon castle. It is currently undergoing restoration and can only be seen from the back though it is possible to approach it along this lovely heather path and then walk around it to its neighbour the Belvedere (seen here in the last pic).

Seems like there's ice everywhere these days.

What a lovely area.
I remember visiting with my mum a number of years ago and there was a couple making out pretty heavily on the grass outside the Petit Trianon. I think they were somewhere in your last photo.

This looks like a beautiful place to walk even when there is a thin sheet of ice on the water.

A wonderful look at this part of the property. In winter, more ice would only add.
