Renault et deux-chevaux

Old Renault Château de Versailles
Sometimes you see old Renaults and Deux-chevaux in front of the palace and the king's small stables...

Quite a contrast between the splendour of classic architecture and working cars like that!

I wonder why that is - why such old classics are found parked at the palace...maybe the owners are poor relatives of the king?

Always loved the looks of the old 2CV, but never wanted to actually drive. Fine photos of these traditional vehicles.

They sit perfectly against the very grand backdrop!

Love these old cars seeming to connect to and hold the old worlds of the grand building.

I really like the Deux Cheveaux. When I was hitch hiking in France in the late 60's I had lots of rides in them. One very memorable one down, the Le Mans Mulsanne straight, when it just used to be part of the road system.

I keep seeing Deux-chevaux around, not too many, but always some...

Is that a good sign? Well, at least they are not ticketed.

It seems Louis and Marie Antoinette left in a hurry and had to abandon their vehicles.

Sometimes even around my suburb Ciel :) but believe me they don't look nearly as fab as in your neck of the woods!
