Châteaux d'eau

These are water towers, located on the edge of Versailles and Parc de la Porte Verte. The one above is two years younger than my grandmother would have been!

Ces réservoirs sont situés le long du parc de la Porte Verte. Celui ci-dessus a deux ans de moins que n'aurait eu ma grand-mère !

Much more appealing than the water tower I was used to in the nearest town where I grew up!

I have to agree with William, this is definitely more appealing than what I grew up with as well!! Great captures as always, Ciel!!

They look so unusual, Ciel!

I'll have to agree with William also. The ones I saw when I was growing up were not nearly as attractive as these.

What great finds. European water towers are so much cooler than N. American ones. They really do look like chateaux!

Very elegant looking water towers... I love the cool, shady looking entrance to number 1!

I agree heartily with William that these are much nicer than water towers here in central Canada.

They don't look like any water tower I've seen before. In fact, the one in the first picture looks like a house with an address and a door! Love all that brick. Do they still serve to provide water for the city.

And yes, there are lots of alligators in those waters. You'll see that in the next couple of days! :)

I was thinking it was an entrance to a funky house, I'd have never guessed a water tower.

I am quite fond of these châteaux d'eau and I always take pictures of them. These two are quite interesting and I like the balcony around.

I find the water towers in France so fascinating. They not only serve a purpose, but they often look very cool.
