One of the most striking casts of the Louvre's collection is this huge Dioscuri from the Quirinal in Rome. The original work dates from the second century, after a Greek work from the 5th century B.C.
L'un des moulages les plus impressionnants du Louvre, c'est ce dioscure du Quirinal à Rome. L’œuvre originale date du IIè siecle, d'après une œuvre grecque du Vè siècle avant J.C.

That is such an amazing space, Ciel. These are stunning shots!
Awesome!! Stunning shots they are indeed, Ciel!!
Quite a figure :)
I can't get over that space! It is perfect for this display.
Incredible to see these amazing works in such a beautiful, elegant space. So beautiful! I'm endlessly fascinated by anything ancient Rome:)
Beautiful shot and a very striking sculpture.
I don't remember this area. The heavy ceiling vaults suggest that it is a lower level. Perhaps it has not been open to the public for many years.
Beautiful vaulted ceiling, very dramatic......and France won again. They must be favourites for the Championship .
That is an amazing sculpture... and a perfect place to exhibit it.
'Epic' looking statue... and photographs. You have captured him at his best!
bel homme dirait Jack
Heureusement ce dioscure a trouvé un lieu d'exposition à sa taille.
I love the arches in this building!
Remind me again: these are stables? Our horses should live so good! And we're the "horse capitol of the world"! :)
What's really nice about this, also, is you don't need to go into Paris to look at some great pieces right there in your stable-museum!
The statues really give you the sense of the enormity of this space.
Castor and Pollux? Great pictures of a very interesting place.
it is so amazing to see such huge gorgeous sculptures! thank you for sharing them. Architecture also is awesome.
@ VP: I believe so.
What a great place. That first photo is a real lure for visitors!
Isn't it interesting that sculptors have been replicating this sculpture over the centuries.
An interesting space and architecture is great.
Oh my the first image is really special Ciel, the arched space is so perfect for this collection.
