National Day Theme for February: NZ

So it's another extra theme day in the City Daily Photo community, for Waitangi Day in New-Zealand. I could have shown you French kiwis (yes, we grow them rather well!) Or maybe the sheep that graze in the palace gardens but you have already seen them here. Sorry, the clichés! No Māori in sight...  But to me, New-Zealand means rugby union, arguably my favourite sport since way back in the late 1970s in the good old days of amateur rugger! This was last Saturday at Montbauron pub where I thoroughly enjoyed watching the first half of the opening game of the 2013 Six Nations Championship between Ireland and Wales (Ireland won 30-22). Sorry, no All Blacks or Haka! Happy Waitangi Day (or what's left of it due to time difference)!

Bon Waitangi Day !

Great looking place to watch the games from! Sounds as though a good time was had!

This is a clever interpretation. I couldn't think of anything.

BTW, the tour guide was making a pun. "Miss Information" = "misinformation" = "incorrect information."

Ooh, this is a great one! Also a fun looking place to spend some time. Rugby is sadly not so popular here in the states, though every European I've ever known works enthusiastically to change that:)

My experience with New Zealand is limited to changing planes in Auckland on our way two and from Sydney. My main memory is that the clerks at the airport McDonalds were notably more clean-cut than their counterparts in the US.

Perfect shot for the theme.

You should have stayed for the second half as Wales played much better. But we're still not good enough, but as always a great atmosphere in Cardiff. What about Italy and France, that was a surprise. I wonder what will happen this Saturday? I love the Six Nations.

Oh well done Ciel, rugby is soooooo NZ. It's interesting to learn new things about blogger mates, I couldn't imagine you being a rugger fan, not sure why!!

Great image on the screen! :-)

Great idea for this mini-theme! I wouldn't have thought of you as a rugby fan. :)

on attend un peu pour parler de la France

Well, that's a new one to me!

@ Bergson : peut-être qu'on en parlera pas du tout... :-)

@ Dave: I'd have liked to, that and the Calcutta cup, but I had a few other things to take care of...

Very nicely done, Ciel. Rugby doesn't get much notice in this country so I know little about it as I know little about New Zealand except that the latter is very beautiful!

It looks very much like the perfect place to watch a game.

Le rugby ! Rien qu'a voir leurs chaussettes, cela me fait rire.

Rugby has made some inroads in certain pockets over here. Rough game.

Nice one! Like Grace, I wouldn't have guessed you're a rugby fan. The few times I've watched it on TV, I've enjoyed it. Tough sport.
