Bon mardi gras !

Did you enjoy costumes when you were kids? Happy Mardi Gras! This is a traditional toy shop in Saint-Louis neighbourhood.

Loved costumes.

It delights me that Europe still has many shops of this size and character. These days they exist here only in the biggest cities. The rest have been killed off by huge, characterless suburban stores.

Very cute. I have never lived in a place where mardi gras is important. What costume will you wear?

Oh my grandchildren would have a ball there.

The sad thing is that apart from a few places, nothing happens on fat Tuesday in France anymore...

OMG Ciel, Aimee would be all over that pirate outfit in a flash, she's obsessed with pirates!! Wonderful windows,I'm sure most people love a little dress up now and then haha!

Lovely! Actually I still like costumes:)
By the way, I didn't take many photos in Putbus - it was too cold and windy:(

Mardi Gras? That only happens in New Orleans! Well, maybe a few other places. Y'all take that seriously in Versailles?

Re your comment on Ocala: I was gonna say... :-)

I like the snazzy car in the second shot!

Not really, but there are very compromising pictures of me in unbelievables attires. My mom keep them away from me because I would enjoy destrying them!

@ Lowell: mardi gras is French for fat Tuesday... And came to New-Orleans because Louisiana was French...

@ VP : I imagine that depending on your age in those photos they wouldn't be THAT compromising!

I love costumes! But in North American, we only dress up for Halloween. People here don't really do carnival/mardi gras until they're adults. ;)

How exquisite and pretty. I really enjoyed dressing up when I was a child. Not anymore though :)
