'Tis holly time. This one stands above a very simple and quite old tomb at Gonards cemetery. This tomb I liked in all its simplicity because of the bench beside it.
--------------

I like the bench and the holly, so I'll sit by for a minute thinking...

I like both of these pictures a lot. For some reason I like them separate. Each shows its own special qualities, and the mind puts them together (thanks for explaining :)

That second photograph is so amazing. It has incredible presence and power. Beautiful job, CQ.

Why the bench? To sit and meditate over bones? We have some holly bushes that are growing like crazy, but we don't get any berries. Sheesh!

That's very nice design - contemplative and peaceful. A place to think about the past and the future.

I caught up on your last posts and enjoyed them. Holly is great as long as you don't have to work with it or around it. Wow are those leaves prickly!!

I wish we had holly here. It's so pretty and Christmas-y. I also like the idea of benches beside tombs — very welcoming for visitors.

Lovely photos, both.

We find beauty in these simple things, like this bench, I imagine someone could be praying there ,maybe some tears in her face but always love inside her heart...
Wonderful shot!

That's a very stark and simple tomb. A perfect place to stop awhile and reflect.

@ Jacob: I was told the holly in the USA didn't look like ours. Is that true then?

@ Olivier : tu me fais envie !

http://ramblings10.blogspot.com/2008/12/snippets-of-life-from-thanksgiving-till.html

Un an déjà presque !
