Weekend Reflections: Opium

Opium YSL Versailles
Notre-Dame covered market and the Saturday market stalls, as well as a cyclist are reflected in an YSL (Yves Saint Laurent) ad. VDP used to love that perfume! All Weekend Reflections are this way!
Early afternoon update: it seems the notoriety of YSL and Opium the perfume hasn't reached everyone. So click on the links if you want to know more about it, yes it is a perfume, has been for almost 40 years and is perfectly legal!

Les halles et les stands du marché ainsi qu'un cycliste sont reflétés dans une pub YSL pour les Reflets du Weekend !

That's actually the name of a perfume?

Great picture, I love that face mixed with those reflections, very surreal. One has to ask 'what's the favourite now'...

I like the way her face seems to be looking at the street scene in the reflection as she puts on her perfume. Nice shot!

YSL, you know I'm a fan.

Clandestine advertising ?! Black opium, a very "entêtant" (you say that in France?) fragrance.

I love these images superimposed. Very well done!

une réflexion bien parfumée...une envie de balade à la cour des senteur ou à l'osmothèque ?

Weird. Makes me wonder what we're selling. :-)

A good reflection, but quite an odd name for a perfume...

You have included so many beautiful things in this image.
So FRENCH.

@ Geoff: that would be telling!!! ;-)

@ those wondering: I would have thought the notoriety of YSL and Opium had crossed the big pond but maybe not for everyone! It was very big already in the 1970s...

Tolles Bild, Ciel !

Superb reflection, Ciel! Great fun. Is that a church in the background? Makes for an interesting contrast with opium, although I do recall someone once saying religion is the opiate of the people or something like that. Hey, it wasn't me! So why did you stop using this perfume? That's the question everyone is asking! :)

That's quite a crowd in the background Ciel, busy spot. I have a friend who's worn Opium for as long as I've worn L'Air du Temps, about 25 years :)

Something about this image really appeals to me. It's Chanel for me but I'll keep and eye out for this in the shops :).

Brilliant shot! Opium was very big in the 80's in SoCal. Maybe earlier but I would have been too young to notice. :-)

The mix of ad image and reflection makes for an ethereal, other world photo. Beautifully done.

Edie Campbell was a very clever choice for the campaign.
