Ino et Mélicerte

Ino and Melicertes Versailles
VDP tampered with this beauty that's on show at the Gallery of Sculptures and Casts. Ino and Melicertes, sculpted by Pierre Granier, 1686-1691. This, the marble original, graced the palace gardens from 1710 to 2007 when it was restored and finally replaced by a copy in 2014 to avoid deterioration. Below of course is the real thing for you to appreciate and also an evening ray of sunshine on some of the Louvre casts.

Beautifully effective contrast, Ciel!

I like the first one, you have turned her into a negative! Very different and the shaft of sunlight looks pretty cool...

Glad the original is being cared for.

They're all delightful. My favorites are the tampering and the ray of light.

The first one is positively evil looking.

Classic beauty whatever colour! It's good to know the original will be enjoying it's retirement, he's worked for a very long time :)

I'm a bit 'blue' now. I'll get over it. It comes and goes.

Whew! When you said, "tampered," I thought, "Oh, that poor sculpture!" and "Oh, VDP's gonna get in trouble now!"

But then I realized you were talking about the photo! Well, you done good all the way around. I do love that last picture with the light slanting in ...

Beautiful shots, tampered or not!
(I'm traveling 'til mid-June. I'll have some posts in my absence but won't be visiting other blogs. See you when I get back!)

The statue is gorgeous and I just love the bottom shot!
