VDP tampered with this beauty that's on show at the Gallery of Sculptures and Casts. Ino and Melicertes, sculpted by Pierre Granier,
1686-1691. This, the marble original, graced the palace gardens from
1710 to 2007 when it was restored and finally replaced by a copy in 2014 to
avoid deterioration. Below of course is the real thing for you to
appreciate and also an evening ray of sunshine on some of the Louvre
casts.
Beautifully effective contrast, Ciel!
ReplyDeleteI like the first one, you have turned her into a negative! Very different and the shaft of sunlight looks pretty cool...
ReplyDeleteGlad the original is being cared for.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful place that is!
ReplyDeleteThat first shot is so cool.
ReplyDeleteThey're all delightful. My favorites are the tampering and the ray of light.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures. You made the first look ghostly!
ReplyDeleteIt gives a real sense of movement, love your effect too!
ReplyDeleteThe first one is positively evil looking.
ReplyDeleteI remember the statues, and would like to see all the others... I like this place!
ReplyDeleteClassic beauty whatever colour! It's good to know the original will be enjoying it's retirement, he's worked for a very long time :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit 'blue' now. I'll get over it. It comes and goes.
ReplyDeleteWhew! When you said, "tampered," I thought, "Oh, that poor sculpture!" and "Oh, VDP's gonna get in trouble now!"
ReplyDeleteBut then I realized you were talking about the photo! Well, you done good all the way around. I do love that last picture with the light slanting in ...
I like that effect. It seems to fit perfectly!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots, tampered or not!
ReplyDelete(I'm traveling 'til mid-June. I'll have some posts in my absence but won't be visiting other blogs. See you when I get back!)
I like how you played with the photo!
ReplyDeleteThe statue is gorgeous and I just love the bottom shot!
