Doesn't this look like a stage performance? Two artists bowing while the public applauds? Seen in the park of Petit Trianon castle in the palace grounds. Would anyone enlighten VDP as to what these are?

No idea, but I like the tangled twists of their trunks.
I would fathom guess that they are from the 'funkalicious' genus. Very unusual.
P.S. if you are not familiar with the term 'funkalicious' it means "When a person or object is full of funk."
Definitely funkalicious! ;-))
The one on the left has a big tutu.
il faudrait les feuilles mais ils me font penser à des saules tortueux...
Whatever they are, the are most certainly very photogenic!
I noticed the tutu also. And the one to the right is clearly taking a well-deserved bow.
Fascinating! Do you suppose the trees were trained to grow that way? Just wondering.
The first picture, its definitely a ballet I can tell by the tutu on the tree on the left, love it...
I like trees so these are very interesting to say the least.
I like those squiggly branches.
I see I'm not the only one who sees a big skirt or tutu on that one in the top photo. I love all the gnarled and twisted branches.
Two misshapen trees.
Are they better 'lookers' in blossom?
STRIKE!
Sorry, I can't help... but you are right about how they look!
AMAZING! Maybe Japanese Acacia? http://oeirasdailyphoto.blogspot.pt/2013/01/japanese-acacia.html
If the people who got here before me don't know, then I surely don't. But funkalicious works for me.
Keine Ahnung was das sein soll, schaut aber gut aus, besonders im zweiten Foto !
Effectivement, ils sont magnifiques ces arbres ! :)
Trees full of life.
I do agree these wonderful trees do evoke an image but to me as soon as I saw the first image I thought of dancing with abandon :) could they be weeping willows?
These are amazing trees! There are some types of willows that grow twisted branches like this and the long, trailing branches look willow-like, too. Gorgeous trees!
