February CDP Theme Day: what would you miss?

Château de Versailles Apollo's chariot
February already! This month's City Daily Photo community's Theme Day is: if you had to leave forever the city from which you usually post, what would you miss most?
Ah... well... VDP would really miss this beauty and its huge grounds to roam in! This is the palace's royal alley seen from Apollo's chariot basin just about two weeks ago, on a rare sunny day! To view all takes on this month's theme, click here! Happy February everyone!

It's so hard to say one thing I'd miss from my town, but I can see why you'd miss this, it's a gorgeous view.

I could see missing this view.

One of the wonderful and inspirational scenes at the Palace! I can see why you would miss it dearly. Fortunately, it will be a long time before you do leave . . .

Yes, this is something I would miss, too, in your situation.

But, tell me ... do you have to pay an entrance fee EVERY time you go to the palace, or do you have an annual membership, or a press pass ... ???

Linda said...

Yes, I can understand this. You live in a beautiful place.

Mais bien sûr.

I like how water dominates the foreground. To float on your back there on a warm summer day... But security would chase you away.

On ne s'attendait pas moins de toi!
Magnifique prise et tu vas encore tres certainement nous en apprendre encore beaucoup sur ce lieu debordant d'histoire.

There is a subdued beauty in this lovely photo that mesmerises and lingers. The touch of water in the scene adds some magic.

I have to try this place again, maybe not in the heat of summer: it does look wonderful here!

I can certainly understand why you'd miss such a wonderful landmark that's practically at your doorstep. I think we're both lucky to live in cities with such a rich history and still a lot of life going on in the present too!

The vastness of the grounds is well captured in your photo and the palace is featured, too.... a must.

May you never have to leave your city! Happy Theme Day!

YOU are living very close to a very pretty historical landmark. I fully understand that this is a place you will miss..... in case you leave your city.

@ Julie: if I hadn't bought an annual pass, yes, I would have to pay for the palace and the Grand and Petit Trianon estates year round as well as the gardens in the summer. The grounds however are free for pedestrians 365/365.

So basically, I do pay! ;-)

There's a lot to be missed in Versailles, but this would be at the top of my list as well. Stunning.

The aesthetics are absolutely perfect and gorgeously beautiful.

May you continue to roam there to your heart's content.

I have only been to Versailles once, Ciel, in 2010. I spent the entire day, and saw such a small proportion of it. I could wander the grounds for days on end, and never tire of the plantings or the vista. I am glad you have an annual pass! Thanks for responding so comprehensively.

Glennis said...

Lovely photo I like the colour of the water, nice to have such a nice place to wander.

Stuart said...

You do live in a magical place. And that shot today demonstrates it. Bravo!

Bien sûr, comment imaginer Versailles sans son château !
Très belle photo !
