February already! This month's City Daily Photo community's Theme Day is: if you had to leave forever the city from which you usually post, what would you miss most?
Ah... well... VDP would really miss this beauty and its huge grounds to roam in! This is the palace's royal alley seen from Apollo's chariot basin just about two weeks ago, on a rare sunny day! To view all takes on this month's theme, click here! Happy February everyone!
I can certainly understand your sentiments here! What a place to live and enjoy every day of one's life! Beauty and history wrapped in a gilded package!
ReplyDeleteLovely picture Ciel, nice start to your 7th year...
ReplyDeleteA picture showcasing your city's beauty!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Six years so soon!
ReplyDeleteYep, I do believe you would miss the palace and its grounds! :)
A good pic to show us what you would miss - the beauty of your city is astounding!
ReplyDeleteThe palace would be missed by many beyond your home! A beautiful choice.
ReplyDeleteThat's so beautiful
ReplyDeleteA stunning royal vista Ciel ... I could live with that
ReplyDeleteI would love to see this in person.
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to say one thing I'd miss from my town, but I can see why you'd miss this, it's a gorgeous view.
ReplyDeleteI could see missing this view.
ReplyDeleteOne of the wonderful and inspirational scenes at the Palace! I can see why you would miss it dearly. Fortunately, it will be a long time before you do leave . . .
ReplyDeleteYes, this is something I would miss, too, in your situation.
ReplyDeleteBut, tell me ... do you have to pay an entrance fee EVERY time you go to the palace, or do you have an annual membership, or a press pass ... ???
Yes, I can understand this. You live in a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteMais bien sûr.
ReplyDeleteI like how water dominates the foreground. To float on your back there on a warm summer day... But security would chase you away.
I love the size of this photo and the reflection of the clouds in the water.
ReplyDeleteUnderstandable! I would miss this beauty too.
ReplyDeleteLove your choice for the theme day. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThere is a subdued beauty in this lovely photo that mesmerises and lingers. The touch of water in the scene adds some magic.
ReplyDeleteI like the colours and atmosphere of the picture. You are lucky!
ReplyDeleteCheers from Tilburg.
I have to try this place again, maybe not in the heat of summer: it does look wonderful here!
ReplyDeleteNow that's a very l o n g view to the palace!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was there I did not have time to walk the grounds -- they are a treasure that your would surely miss.
ReplyDeleteI would never miss a place but friends and family.
ReplyDeleteI love the proportions in this photo, its really a very beautiful place!
ReplyDeleteI can certainly understand why you'd miss such a wonderful landmark that's practically at your doorstep. I think we're both lucky to live in cities with such a rich history and still a lot of life going on in the present too!
ReplyDeleteThe vastness of the grounds is well captured in your photo and the palace is featured, too.... a must.
ReplyDeleteMay you never have to leave your city! Happy Theme Day!

You're so lucky to live there...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo with lots of depth. After reading your explanation I think that "rare sunny day" is very special as well. Happy theme day

Oh !
ReplyDeleteWhat a shot Ciel.. perfectly luvverly :) I remember it well and hope to see it again one day!
ReplyDeleteYOU are living very close to a very pretty historical landmark. I fully understand that this is a place you will miss..... in case you leave your city.
ReplyDelete@ Julie: if I hadn't bought an annual pass, yes, I would have to pay for the palace and the Grand and Petit Trianon estates year round as well as the gardens in the summer. The grounds however are free for pedestrians 365/365.
ReplyDeleteSo basically, I do pay! ;-)
There's a lot to be missed in Versailles, but this would be at the top of my list as well. Stunning.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful and we would miss seeing the beauty if you were to leave. So there!!!
ReplyDeleteGo Hawks!!!

Sehr schönes Bild, Ciel, eine solche Aussicht würde wohl jeder vermissen !
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo. I miss it and I don't even live there! I hope I can come back some day.
ReplyDeleteThe aesthetics are absolutely perfect and gorgeously beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMay you continue to roam there to your heart's content.
ReplyDeleteI have only been to Versailles once, Ciel, in 2010. I spent the entire day, and saw such a small proportion of it. I could wander the grounds for days on end, and never tire of the plantings or the vista. I am glad you have an annual pass! Thanks for responding so comprehensively.
ReplyDeleteLovely photo I like the colour of the water, nice to have such a nice place to wander.
ReplyDeleteYou do live in a magical place. And that shot today demonstrates it. Bravo!
