This is a detail of a side door of the king's large stables. Note of course the fleur de lys, symbol of the French monarchy... You have seen the large and small stables several times with a general view and history more specifically here and this particular doorway here. This part of the former stables now houses the municipal archive.

Very elegant indeed.
The king's stables are a wonder to behold though something of an anachronism in today's world. Even so, they are magnificent and beautiful and I hope they last forever.
I forgot to add that this part of the former stables is now the municipal archive.
What craftsmanship is found in the simplest of places.
Very nice place for a municipal archive! By the way, if you add two buds to the fleur de lys and you get Florence...
Thanks for the detail Ciel.. The horses head defines it as the stables oui? Amazing place to keep records, exactly how it should be in Versailles :)
So beautiful. I love anything horses--well you know that. MB
You've taken some beautiful captures of the stables over the years, and this is a lovely addition. Too bad all archives can't look this good! (I guess they can't all be Versailles, sigh...:)
Gorgeous details nicely captured!
Beautiful details!
