Fleurs automnales au monument aux morts

Autumn flowers at the war memorial. On 11 November 1918, the horror ended... You've seen the monument to the fallen here.

Ein Tag zum Erinnern.

Hier, wohl etwas Regen, Marathon und am Abend Demonstrationen.

Den Sonntag gut dir.

The flowers are similar to what they've planted here at Stone Creek. When I was growing up, 1918 didn't seem all that far away. It does now, but we do need to remember if only to remind ourselves of the futility of war.

Hope you have a wonderful Sunday!

The brilliant flower mounds are colorful counterpoints to the quiet and serious words of the monument.

A good and colorful contrast to the grayness of war things.

Beautiful flowers on the memorial. They are very poignant remiders of the huge losses. I always find Rememberance Day very moving as it a reminder of fallen not just in the two World Wars but also in the recent wars / conflicts.

I like that they've chosen bright colors, it help draw your attention to the very somber memorial.

A lovely way to remember those who have fallen. Lest we forget...

I hope we never see the widespread horror of those times ever again... perhaps we are evolving, slowly, but surely...

That kind of horror never ends, it only goes away for a while...

C'est pourquoi les chrysantèmes sont loin de mes fleurs préférées...

Bel hommage, pourvu que l'on prenne le temps d'y penser dans notre monde actuel.
