Marché

Let's leave the splendour of the library behind for a day. I caught these a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday. Typical scenes of market day!

Laissons de côté la splendeur de la bibli pour aujourd'hui. J'ai chopé ces quelques vues typiques du samedi il y a une quinzaine de jours !

The carts are a great idea. That's funny, I'm working on a series of photos on "feet", you kind of did the same here!

It appears to me that people in your neck of the woods carry a lot of "baggage"! ;-)

Thanks for your kind comment on Stone Creek. I'm not back yet, but can't help myself it seems. An inner voice says "Post, you dummy!"

All is well, though. Hope the same is true for you!

They are not so common here, not yet, but I remember I saw quite a range of them in the south of France.
Is in mainly old people who use them????
Like your street shots!

Wonderful to see. Here, everyone goes shopping with a car, not a cart.

Interesting collection, I like the variations in colors and types.

I don't get to see people towing carts, the stores are too far apart, so everyone drives.

Ces caddies peuvent nous paraitre ordinaire en tant que francais mais ils n'existent pas partout et sont exotiques pour beaucoup. Un bon collage.

Do you use one?

I like the new look of your blog!

Those market draggers are a sight, aren't they? ;-)

My family used a simple one of these when I was going up in Queens and my mother walked to food stores. I don't think I've ever seen one out here in automobile land.

The woman at the top right has BIG shopping plans! Individualized shopping carts like these are almost non-existent here.

By the size of those bag I would say there is serious shopping to be done!

I've gotten hooked on photoblogs now, and these are so much fun. Great idea to focus on shopping carts.

So much different here. We buy for a week or two at a time. I like your way but it's a long hike to the closest store for me.

Cool series. The wicker basket is my favorite. You have an interesting blog.

Ah...oldies with shopping trolleys, they trip you up, run over your toes...but they are great for shopping. I like the new blog too, especially the font.

@ Gunn: young, old, very young, everyone uses them. I saw a little girl yesterday with pink wellies and a pink cart. I had my hands full though and it was raining pots and buckets so I didn't bother to scramble for the camera.

@ Brattcat: yes.

@ all: when you live in town, thankfully you don't need your car here. It was sorry not to have caught one with leeks peeking out. That's a pretty common sight!

We don't use a cart like this in Manila, because we have "bag boys" who bring our groceries to our car (spoiled, how well I know it!)... but when in China, we do use a cart, as we don't have a car there and must cart our stuff quite a ways to our apartment. I like series like this.

I like the way everyone has bags on wheels! So smart!

Only elderly ladies use carts here...

Interesting vignette. We don't see many shopping carts in this area with the exception of the homeless. Our shopping is to far distant.

It only makes sense to have these carts and I would want a chic one for my trip to the marché... Maybe even some to match a pair of wellies...

Oh, and I like the new look to your website, too!

J´adore les marchés, et la consequence pour les citoyens: porter ces jolis charriots!

If I ever get old enough to need one of those for the market I'd take that one that looks like a basket. Very classy!

Terrific collage of shoppers in motion. They're on the move in every direction, with every color and style of cart imaginable. Neat captures!
