Rue à Montreuil

There are several neighbourhoods in Versailles where smaller, residential streets still have gravel roads, which never fails to amaze me, though I like it as it gives the city an unusual country air and charm! I have no idea how two cars are supposed to pass each other though, it's probably a question of centimetres!

Fascinating that you'd find gravel roads in these times. There are such interesting details in the buildings. In the states, we'd call this an alley and I love walking down them, taking in all the sights.

The spots of green also give the lane a country feel. Have a great weekend.

Oh, my. The only gravel roads I ever drive on are out near my wife's family farm in Kansas. I couldn't imagine this in the US.

By the way, you are right, the statue of Meriwether Lewis does look somewhat like Prince Charles. I personally think there is a strong resemblance to George Bush the younger.

We have alot of gravel roads too. It does make the neighborhood look more charming.

There is something about that photo that makes it so charming. We might call this an "alley" in the States which doesn't sound nearly as romantic.

It does have a country air about it. Alleys are in older residental areas here, but newer ones are built with yards back to back.

PS - I couldn't possibly do a puddle series, it would be very short lived since it hardly rains here! :)

Gravel roads do amaze me in such a cosmopolitan city. It does not look like there is room for another car to pass on that street.

What a dear neighborhood this is. I hope the people living here never take it for granted.

Here in tiny Lux it seems that even the smallest path in the middle of the woods is paved... :)
God bless you!

Charming photo. There are still streets like these, mostly off the beaten path side roads where I live. I hope they always remain unpaved..

The houses are right on the road! No yard to speak of. Many of the houses in town here are like that.
